I was in a bookshop with my son the other day. In the computer section I saw a book called" Computers for the over 60s" I am 82 and have been programming since the days of the c64 in c basic Pascal and Modula 2 ( remember that?) and now C Sharp.i might write a book called Computers for over 80s, but it ptobably would not sell in any great numbers. The point is din't make assumptions about oldies, we are all different.
Oldie
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Oldie I think you're officially the oldest Blitz user!
In contrast, the youngest Blitz user we ever had was only 7 years old and he actually managed to write a complete game in Blitz Basic. I worked for Idigicon at the time - his game as you can imagine while pretty impressive for a 7 year old, wasn't destined for commercial success, shall we say. But IIRC we sent him a copy of Blitz3D for his efforts anyway.
Maybe he's still around? I can't remember his name now.

Gord: well If I'm still programming at 82 (for fun) then I'll be a happy man :-)
No you won't be a happy man, you will have bad eyesight, many aches and pains, a runny nose and no interest whatsoever in the porn websites.Cheers.
I aim to be happy then, happy people live longer on average, that's a fact. By then I want to program just by talking and thinking anyway.
That is awesome! You're a new inspiration!
and i thought i was pushing the envelope... my hats off to you Gord... you've got my respect and awe...
i'll just be happy to make it to 70, much less 80...
more power to ya G...

Hmm.. gonna have to check my birth certificate. I believe I may in fact be 82.
Proof that programming keeps the mind sharp...
Nah, you can't surprise me none. I just saw one of my PC repair clients today who happens to be 92 and a big VB programming enthusiast.
Anyway, what Grey said, and I'll take the natural physical decline as part of the package, 'cept that "no interest..." bit really sounds like the sux though :*(

Hello.
I remember when all this was green screen...youth of today don't know they're born...I could show you how to dance properly and not to any of this so called music but to proper stuff that you could sing along and play the spoons to...the food tasted better in those days and the woman all had 16 large breasts on each hand...the royals were all proper royals then...we all used to make our own entertainment and didn't mind getting beaten by Father...journalists showed respect and wrote, what I like to call, proper news stories...Johnny foreigner knew his place and there was proper food, the stuff you could recognise on your plate...all the policemen were older and treated with respect because they followed the law...and the law was more sensible then, women and poor people knew they were lesser citizens and respected t'menfolk for lashing them daily to keep them in their place...and the money was proper too, none of this complicated decimal nonsense...Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
With a nod and a wink to the venerable old buggers on the site :o)
Goodbye
PS, don't mention the war! (Red is still trying to get his subs to the South Pacific)

...also proof that even if you don't look at porn, you're might well go blind anyway. ;)
Gord - thank god you've arrived!
I've been at the mercy of these b*****ds for far too long as the oldest Blitzer (54).
Now find the 'Your Age' thread and get yourself entered.
