If you had the money, what "game maker" related software would you buy?
What would you buy
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/What would you buy Max7
Photoshop CS2
Photoshop CS2
XSI Foundation & Modo.
not exactly software, but I'd buy (the old) Bullfrog, Ubisoft and FunCom.. that way I could tell them what games to make.. :p
I am with Noel. But my choice would be XSI:FND and Silo2
..which I have bought (apart from silo2 which should be out in a month)

Same as GFK, except I'd choose Photoshop 6.0.
probably Photoshop although I am getting used to Gimp now.

I have tried Gimp many many times and tried to love it but after photoshop it stinks.
I would buy 3d Studio.
I like Silo, but after trying Modo I have to say I do like some of the stuff it does more. They're both amazing programs though.

I love the fact it's free and way better than anything I've used before. I find the inferface a bit kooky though, esp. when saving files. I can't think of anything I need really, so I'd buy a programmer to make plugins for what I have already.
I loathe GIMP with a passion. I consider it to be the most common & evil image editing software in existence second to MS Paint.
There'a frontend availible to Gimp that makes it look
and almost do the same stuff as Photoshop.
I like Paint Shop Pro better myself because of all
the irritating shortcuts in Photoshop who never are
where they should be, Mac legacy I guess, sigh !

Well MSPaint is hideously limited, it's almost the same as it was in Win95, whereas Gimp has tons of very useful features that my older version of Corel Paint and Paint Shop Pro didn't do. I like it for the features and functionality (plus it's free) not the user interface. So therefore I'd say your statement isn't accuate (I know it was just impassioned really ;-)). Can be used for games, but not a game related "want".
I'd love a shiny new Delphi 2006 Enterprise edition. But until customers start asking for software that my trusty old Delphi 7 can't handle then I'm staying put. I was a fan of VB6 until XP hit the scenes + VB.net and then it kinda became dated + I was getting fed up with OCX/DLL hell.
Bought that last year. Amazing piece of kit. It's superb at rendering graphics and blending things together. Mind you, I don't use a fraction of its power so photoshop elements might of been a cheaper purchase.

Vue Infinite.
What I'd really like is a language with the ease of use of blitzplus/blitz3d and the ability to effectively 'writepixelfast' to every pixel in an 800x600x32bit display multiple times per frame at a decent framerate.

Where would you see Hexagon2, also soon with a V2 in the context to modo201 and silo2 as a modelling/texturing-paint tool?
Does anyone know a bit more about the renderer which will be included into the new version of modo201? How good is this one compared to if i export/import to another renderer and use something like mentalray for instance?
Lot's of software aorund these days...but also very confusing if you don't have the time to test out all. Not to mention all the rest like Carrara and Truespace Caligari and and and...

I think I'll settle for a nice long relaxing Bahamas cruise combined with staying on some of the islands for another long period...
Laying in hammock and listening to the waves and wind with bacardi-cola nearby definitely beats any programming or game maker related software :)

Visual Studio.. I like the express editions, but now I really want svn integration and some other random features I've seen.
Not exactly software, but a MOCAP studio would be very handy.
XSI is a fine modelor as it is, no need for modo or silo.
XSI
Silo2 or modo
3d world studio
photoshop cs
ultimate Unwrap
fl studio XL (music software great for sounds too)
wavepad (for cutting and editing sound files)
that should do it!

I would buy Grey Alien's Game Framework.
a) XSI has no polygon reduction in the foundation version.
b) There is no osx version. Personally i'll try to only buy software in the future were i get both a win and a osx-version.

Dark Basic
Wait a minute....what?

Well, I got loads of money - but I'd rather spend the money on media - ie, why spend thousands on 3d software to then spend a year learning to model game-ready stuff (ie stuff that is good enough), when I can just buy the end result for a fraction of the price?
If I had the money I would buy visual studio 2005 and a fairly large number of programming books.
I've got everything else you'd need.

What GFK said, but add in Poser7 as well, and UU3d.
XSI and Photoshop CS.
Moving away from max now... used it for 10 years, and XSI is better, cheaper.

"the money"? I think I'd buy a license for the doom 3 engine.
I would buy a rocket launcher to do hands on tests with, and then make a game that involves rocket launchers.
