You did a good job in the past allowing us to block sigs, and improving the search feature.

PLEASE implement a feature to allow us to block users of our choice (something that functions like the Firefox plugin). The kiddies are getting out of control with their naming schemes and the nicks are too long and knackering the layout of the forums. It would be much easier if we had an option to ignore these idiots.

I had this exact same thought today.

My name as of this post was actually taking the pee out of all the other "GtheGG" names. It will be changed back immediately.

I just wish there was a "universal account" thing for forums, where you're stuck with one nickname for all forums and what not. EZ-Board does such a thing, but only with EZ-Board forums, not all. >.>

I think the whole nick name thing is complete nonsense any way. I do keep my name in my sig and, unlike others, I don't change any other details in my profile.

I must say that this has to be your most Ironic post to date, Brice...Er...White Eagle...Err...Flaming Amoeba...Err...The countless other names and accounts you've had that I've forgotten. ;o)

I also do actually contribute more than trolling flame bait to the forums. I'm amazed that people have such short memories.

I used to get confused with Ian's nickname changing all the time, but at least it has a recogniseable theme. Certainly Kuron's own nickname change caught me out and Antony's does still. It is a tiny bit annoying I suppose, don't see why they can't remain constant so you can instantly recognise who is posting. At least Ian includes his "real" name in the sig.

least i remembered my account name and not my last on screen name ... iir its been 2 years in the wilderness without a pc or regular net access so i wouldnt have a clue whos new[er] or old with a new name

my latest is my sign name i addopted after failing my bsl exams [i was reading an rnid book and wondered why our teacher didnt give us a sign name, he just pointed at two of us to pair us up and we were never 100% if we were the intended pair or group a b and c]

I vote for that too. If you want to change your nick, email blitz support or something or put in a request, that will only be granted if the request is a good reason.

Keeping the same nik gets my vote!! If I don't check the forums for a while I haven't got a scooby who half the people are!

As for same nick, how about just forcing the use of your real name, and anyone without a real name selected has a one-week time limit before they're banned for not using their real name? And then the option of changing your real name (why the heck would you need to change your real name in the profile?) is locked and you're stuck with whatever you entered.

If you get married? Sex change?

Same here. Its rather difficult to work out who people are these days. And could be quite confusing if you have just joined the forum and people are all calling people different names and stuff....aghhhh.

WTF GFK? I mean it's like you have completely changed since your return. I used to think of you as a whiny poor-sport whos sole purpose was to bring the quality of a thread down (when you last left the forum). Now that you returned, I find myself agreeing with most of the points you make here and there. And further-more I find that your points are very logical and thought through.

Either you haven't changed, and I am somehow lowering (hey, have to consider every possibility), or you turned over a new leaf since your previous departure and return.

Please allow me to retract my comment about your return a few weeks back and welcome you back!

Maybe he's just not playing around as much. I've spoken to GfK on a small couple of occasions, From just that he seems a pleasant guy all around.

I also saw his previous comments on this board as quite humerous and when they werent, he generally just stuck to the matter at hand, and was quite straight forward.

I was absent for about 8 months or so, during which time a lot has happened - I don't really want to say any more, but there are more important things in life than arguing with a bunch of people you'll probably never meet anyway. No offence. :)

I initially changed mine, cause it sucked and i wanted to use my real name :o) I used to be known as joker, or some crap like that...

I've changed my name once, though it was with the intention of reducing confusion. At the time, I had a different name on Blitzcoder and thought it would make it easier for people if I changed my name. Then when BC became CW, I had to create a new account as there was talk of the old accounts being carried across automatically. But that never happened and I ended up with different nicks again :'(

I'd quite understand if it was disabled though. Most forums don't allow it at all, and any feature which is subject to abuse stands a chance of being removed.

Another suggestion: allow name changes, but limit them to 1 every quarter or so... So you can allow for 'genuine' name changes, but cut out all the nonsense.

@xlsior: Yeah I thought a similar thing, have a fixed number of changes, like 3 or something, they are effectively "lives" :-)

Another vote for putting a limit to nick change.

I'd like the feature to change my forum name to be kept. Just because some of you don't like it it doesn't mean it should be removed.

I vote to keep things as they currently are.

Let people change once, and just once, more. Then they can
loose the crappy names and have to consider good to decide

As I expected, only the troublemakers seem in favour of keeping the stupid name change rule. It figures.

Banning name changes will be the best thing to happen since being able to turn signatures off.
