Please Test - HD Partitions DeviceIO

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Please Test - HD Partitions DeviceIO

Hi Guys

ive been working on some Partition software, this DOES NOT modify your hard drive partitions. it should give a list of the total number of partitions on your first PHYSICAL DRIVE there format and offsets and a little more information.

could you please post the listings.

Partitions DeviceIO Test

it requires you running from the dos prompt, thanks for trying.

Total Partitions: 1

Partition Type: [1:bootable] IFS
PartitionOffset : 322560 PartitionLength: 16492032008
HiddenSectors: 63: RecognizedPartition : 1

I have 3 physical discs, 1 partition each. Boot partition is 34gb raptor HD.

am I the only one with harddrives here?

Total Partitions: 2

Partition Type: [1:bootable] IFS
PartitionOffset : 322560 PartitionLength: 11529425920
HiddenSectors: 63: RecognizedPartition : 1

Partition Type: [0:bootable] IFS
PartitionOffset : 11528780800 PartitionLength: 1507635204
HiddenSectors: 63: RecognizedPartition : 1

I've also got 3 drives all of which are IDE. The boot drive is 20GB and is split into 2 partitions. The other 2 drives are 120GB each and are configured as RAID0.

I just don't dare to "test beta partition software"... if things go pear shaped I lose everything on my HD - not really worth the risk, eh?

Output:
 C:\|► test.exe
Total Partitions: 1

Partition Type: [1:bootable] IFS
 PartitionOffset : 322560 PartitionLength: 94860185658
 HiddenSectors: 63: RecognizedPartition : 1

Mustang: He hasn't put a disclaimer to cover liability if it damages hardware, so if things do go pear shaped you can still sue 'im. >:)

But no, it doesn't do anything bad.

Whenever I hear this comment I *definately* stay away from it :)

Nice HD-names Noel, he he :)

thanks guys, ive working to enable multi-drive detection this is close to done.(a new uploaded version should detect all drives on the system? but this is untested. i need to take the hd out of my other pc.) after doing some testing it now returns the partition size in KB and the total harddrive size in GIG's.

ive also added support for other media bits, ie detect if media is in the drive(cd/dvd). detect what media a drive is, ie(floopy,hd,cd,dvd)

@Mustang, sure does not alter your partition's, i will get that stable myself :)

@Noel, umm can you re-test the latest version and post your findings, things have been reworked so you should get a full listing.

thanks guys for testing, if you want to re-test the latest version to see if it detects all hd's then you can download from the same location. b.t.w this is a blitzmax module.

I love partition stuff. Don't know why. I do know that I've always wanted to try to write some partition software that a) wasn't expensive and b) wasn't as painful as fdisk though. cfdisk is nice enough for now though.

Back to the bed. With the laptop. And the swank new mouse I got.

i also dislike fdisk, easy once you are use it though. ive not tryed cfdisk before.
