My New Living Room Set up - help needed

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/My New Living Room Set up - help needed

Hello.

After walking out on the lovely Juliet, I've gone and got myself some new toys. A projector, a sky+ box, a ps2 and of course my PC. I've also got a lame-ass hifi but that's not relevant right here. (Ok, so neither is the hoover)

At some point I might get some furniture but I'm undecided on that at the moment :o)

What I want to do is to hook it all together into one beautiful audio visual yum fest. Trouble is, I know jack about AV units or amps or Aural Goblin Projection Units or whatever they're called.

I'm not looking at spending a huge amount here and will probably go the ebay / second hand shop route.

Can anyone give me any pointers on specific brands or region of costs I should be looking at for the above (excluding hifi and hoover). Does anyone have any experience of this type of setup who'd be happy to offer guidance?

Thanks,

Jes

You want something like this:

I have a Vivanco SBX 84 (not the one pictured - it is like that but has more connectors).

EDIT:
I lie - mine has the same amount of connectors:

I got one of these from Argos which I guess is the same as what Puki said:

I got mine from WH Smiths - was about £15.00. I never use it - I just bought it coz it looked technical.

A fool and his money... :P

few things

1) you failed to close your post with goodbye, is it really you?
2) musn't call her "lovely" anymore or you'll never get over it ;-)
3) right those switch things. You can get a plain old block of 3 or 5 into one BUT the signal comes out weaker or mixed, they are crap. A switched one is so much better (I had a £25 one of these once), but a Powerered switched one is the best. It cost a bit, but I have one of these:

http://www.lektropacks.com/view_item.php?product=82&&category=20&PHPSESSID=87d8c2fa4274b621ad176b7b3d252510

for my Gamecube, Sky Plus, PS2, VCR (haha), DVD, Stereo Amplifier (no fancy crap round my house) and Plasma (output). It's auto switching and when you switch off a device it goes back to the previous one. Everything is RGB supported and it has stereo output too. Basically it's the best thing.

I'll take her for a fiver.

Don't upset the man. He's trying to think technical and I applaud that.

Hello.

Thanks for the responses. The Lektropack gadget seems pretty groovy, I might check that out.

Any suggestions for an amp? Again, I'm kinda looking at budget here.

@GA: Re 1) Sorry, Goodbye and 2) Yeah, you're right. The biatch Juliet :o)

@OEJ: Listen to Grey, I'm hurting really, really badly. Don't upset me more or I might just have a sleep.

Goodbye.

Puki I have that port too. :)
But I still have to unplug loads of stuff to handle my 5 scart leads as that only does 3.

Go to Richer Sounds and grab a cheap n cheerful amp.
