2 Blitz games reviewed in PC Zone magazine

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/2 Blitz games reviewed in PC Zone magazine

Much excitement in Blitzland as 'Master of Defence' (that tower defence thing) scoops 'Indiezone Game of the Month' with a whopping score of 70%. http://www.towerdefence.com/

Coming in second place was 'Wrestling Encore' with 56% (call it 60%). http://www.mdickie.com/

'Wrestling Encore' got a good review - they were staggered by the game's sheer wealth of options - they thought the game world was believable and compelling. In fact they stated that everything was excellent until you step into the ring to wrestle. Still, that is very encouraging - just a bit of tweaking for the next game methinks.

These 2 games join the ranks of the previous Blitz games that have been reviewed

The other two games appear to be non-Blitz and scored 45% and 40%.

So, Large-it-up people - send your games to PC Zone, Future, 2 Balcombe Street, London, NW1 6NW - or probably let them have a website address to take a look - letters@...>

Nice one puki. This is good news. Did they actually mention Blitz in the reviews?

Nope - but then again, I have yet to witness a Blitz review that mentioned it was done in Blitz.

I am wondering if a lot of people don't openly mention it incase the reviewer marks the game down or something. Or, maybe the magazine don't mention Blitz as they don't want to be seen to be advertising.

Or, more likely - they want to treat all games fairly (like with a normal commercial game review) as none of the games, even the non-Blitz ones, ever seem to have the source language mentioned.

Or maybe the reviewers just don't care what language it's written in? :P

Sounds like pretty good reviews!
It's always good to see Blitz success stories...

I think my blitz game got reviewed by PC Zone, too. It's called 'Oblivion'. Anyone played it?

Nope - but then again, I have yet to witness a Blitz review that mentioned it was done in Blitz.
They don't say when games are written in C++, so why should they say games are written in Blitz?

Yep. That's what I was thinking. They don't mention it coz it's irrelevant. :)

Do you guys really think that 70% and 60% are good scores?

I personally really enjoyed Tower Defence and would have given it a higher mark than 70%. It's all down to opinions really. Just seems to be an opinion from a media source carries more weight most.

If you read PC Zone's Indie column on a regular basis, HELL YES! They gave Retro 64's Water Bugs ( a very successful game ) about 18% or something and the highest rating game of the month is often getting a score of only around 50%.

Well to answer a previous question - the answer is simple.

I'd expect any Blitzer, when submitting a game for review, to be spouting on like a running tap about how it was all done in Blitz3D (or other Blitz product). It's the law.

"puki" slams - "puki" dunks.

Promoting Blitz isn't our responsibility.

If I've got a game that I want to sell, then I'm going to concentrate on that rather than whatever it was created with.

Yep. The language I choose to use is my bitch, as far as I'm concerned. :P

Oooh, law-breakers everywhere. I shall inform my mother at once.

...and, you're my bitch too, Puki! :P

I shall inform my mother at once.
You know very well she's in lockdown, and then there's the restraining order anyway...

I'd be afraid of Puki's mum, very afraid!

I think his mum pulled on his ears as a wee lad and produced that goofy monkey look.

Nah, you are confusing me with "Mark Sibly" - "El-Chimpo"
