I want someone to make me a light synthesizer

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/I want someone to make me a light synthesizer

Basically, a bit like the 'Neon' thing in the XBox360 or even like the one the Playstation had.

It needs to react to sound/music.

I have no particular commercial use for it other than my own personal entertainment.

I'll expect a few contenders to be knocked up by next weekend.

Go talk to Jeff I'm sure he'll pass on a few hints.

I'll ask Jean Michel Jarre if he's gone any old ones kicking around.

Neon/PC is due out any day now...

get winamp and some custom plugins.

Good idea "Perturbatio". I'll take a look for plugins.

However, I will not be happy if I don't find anything I like. So I suggest you start working on one for when I get back.

I think you must large first before requesting such software, thou "puki" :P

*poof* yer a light synthesizer.

Puki - it's a well known fact that I'm the oldest, brain-damaged hippy around here.

So I could be forgiven for asking for this ("He's a very clean old man isn't he." -Hard Day's Night).

But _you_ should be ashamed.

How old are ya cuz I went down the tubes somewhere around May of 1971 and I keep thinking any day now it might ease up a bit. Drink lots of orange juice and still listen to Black Sabbath.

Oh and Puki, just have a look at the table lamp. That is synthetic light.

Sniff.

I bet someone would make me one if I said I'll pay you $1,700 (USD) or £1,000 (UKS).

I'd make you three of them for that price. :)

Just went and looked at the neon video on llamasoft's site. It's pretty. It's fast... But I don't see a whole lot of music visualization there. There was only a few brief moments where I thought it looked like it was actually reacting to the music itself. Thumbs down mister Minter... Thumbs down.

@Kanati
You've seen it on the 360 though, right?

negative

Ah. Well it does beat detection well enough on that. :)

Neon's designed to be controlled manually with up to four controllers. When the controllers are inactive for a bit it goes into 'autopilot' mode which is where the beat detection stuff comes in to play.

Orange juice - yuk! It's too late for that.
And I'm still listening to YES.

What happened to you in 1971?
Or is that the point.... 'if you can remember, you were'nt there' ?

(1. Actually, someone, possibly Puki, did compile a list of Blitzers' ages..... anyone know where that thread went?)
(2. It's amazing how many brain-damaged teens and twenties in the 60s and 70s went on to become programmers.
What worries me is.... what's your excuse, new guys?)

I thought "Wedoe" did that list - I keep the lists of all of your addresses.

I'd assume the thread is now deleted - coz I can't see it in "Wedoe's" thingy-bob.

Anyway, back on topic.

I'm still waiting for someone to make my light synth thing.

Just turn your living room light on/off, in time to the music, Puki.

I started the age thread and Wedoe tirelessly compiled it all. It even had D.O.B on it and star signs etc. That's when I concluded that a large number of forum members were 30ish, had 8bit computers then Amigas then PCs and were trying to re-capture those heady days by using Blitz again. And many people concurred with this. It describes me too.

cool. Lots of names that no longer post. Can't believe Michael Reitzenstein is so young and he made Inca Quest!

So... Puki gonna reveal your age yet.

Also mine says 29 ah, how cute, I'm gonna be 31 in June, bummer :-(

be nice to have the mods ages so we can tell if we are being moderated by young whippersnappers or old fogies.

I'll make an update on that list when someone starts a "How old are you"-thread again, I refuse to hijack this one :o)

Don't forget to add me - "puki" (little pup) - aged 7.

I am 22

Age is no good, I need birthdate and year !

How about posting REAL facts for once puki ? :P

Jeff Minter is currently beta testing Neon for pc.
