I made it into the newspaper!

lol, I made it into the local newspaper which is quite amusing. They have a really bad photo of me that they dragged out their archives. It's actually me doing Aikido and I'd probably just rolled or been thrown! I wish they'd asked me for a decent photo (vain) as that one makes me look like a really unhappy programmer lol :-D

And, if you think that's a bad pic, you should see the one Playstation Magazine printed of me... and I was the one that sent it to them! :/

Cool man ... I know how happy you are! I got lucky ... about 4 years ago I was in the local paper for True-Vol and for my volunteer work helping kids get a grasp on making games. This rocks ... I like how they put some nice shots of the game at least ;)

Good stuff.... not sure that the local press is the best sort of publicity for something like this, though. However, the local rags are happy to write about anything - all you have to do is contact them.

I did a lot of this myself back in the late 1990's to get free publicity for my band and we were featured in the local press a couple of times a month for almost a year and a half, often branded "The Next Oasis" - which was nice. We got a nice local following, some airplay on local radio, and even got to play on tour with Mansun on tour in October 1998.

Be interesting to see if any sales come of it.

Gfk: I'll let you know if I make any sales due to the article. It didn't take long to do the press release; so at the very least, it's good practice. I might get some more consultancy work off the back off it so I'll make some money indirectly. Also my Mum is proud and my son liked reading the bit about him in the paper too :-)

Here's a couple of pictures of me taken on the same day last summer (maybe) when I was hosting a week long Aikido summer school in Bridport. In the first one I am surrounded by Ukrainian blackbelts and I'm getting rid of one of them (please excuse the gurning face). In the second one, the 6th dan head of the school is throwing me. He's an extraordinarily powerful man.
