How's the formatting of my Bit Feeder Preformats (mouthful) : http://bitfeeder.com/test_ad.html

Do they look ok on your machine?

The text "Fed by BitFeeder" is chopped in half, here. By that, I mean: Imagine a horizontal line running through the middle of the text. Everything below the line is missing. I guess it could be the vertical size of the 'grey box' containing the text that's doing it.

Win98SE, IE6, here.

Seeing those on a site would cause me not to visit the site anymore. So in that aspect, they look just as good as Google or any of the other types of highly annoying ad services out there.

I'm afraid they look like the ad's you find on a search engine someone threw together in a few minutes and got a sponsorship for. Or, when you type a wrong address and it jumps to "Welcome to Blahblah.com- Helping you search!"

Hope you take this as constructive.

You should make them a little more colourful, make the edges blue for instance and put a little more in the boxes, perhaps round the boxes edges.

On the right website they'll work well.

The first thing I was thinking, was that they were ads as well.

Yeah I get the jist. The format it totally customisable via stylesheets so people who link to it can pretty much change the look and feel to fit the site. The idea behind the preformat is so websites/blog owners can quickly add news and other relevant blog content with little or no fuss.

Just wanted to take another look, but gets a 404 now. I am thinking that if it was formated differently as you say, in the style of the website using it, it might give another impression. The one you had on that test page, just looked a lot like those google boxes, which usually is ads and not interesting news stories.

I actually liked that box with the changing news headlines you have on that PRTODAY site you showed a few days ago.

@zawran, that other box is called the BitFeederBar, that's just one of the several ways to pull content.

If you want to see this stuff in action then look at http://www.prtoday.net/ , personally I think it's quite effective.

Because they look exactly like adwords.

I went to prtoday to see the latest ones and my mind mentally filtered them out. I had to make an effort to look and see that they weren't ads.

Not to mention he referenced google and then posted a URL named "Test Ad".
