Cubix Studio new 3rd pack - NPC Male

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Cubix Studio new 3rd pack - NPC Male

Hi everyone,

it's been a while since my last character pack (Male Pack),
i'm glad that i finally had some time to finish my 3rd pack, Male NPC Pack,
it's now available for only $15 :D

i got many request for swimming, crawl and walk animation,
so i include those animations with this release, also with
the additional attack(punch), duck and of course with all standard animations.

Since all of my animations use the same bone structure,
hopefully you can use these new animations with my other character pack interchangeably (male/female/any other pack in the future),
so this is a good time to collect them all......... just kidding :P

here are some further information about this pack:

Good price, count on a buy here ;-)

great looking model!

Sniffing-nora!

Fantasy RPG-type characters.

Also, I really got to point out that I love the amount of info on your site - it is not like 'Here is a model - buy it or don't buy it'. The site is good - there is a recognisable level of logic going on there.

I'm going to make a definte purchase as I hope it will encourage you to do more stuff.

Plus the price is very good.

EDIT:
I forgot to mention - nice selection of animations too.

thanks a lot everyone :D
i'm glad that you like the 3rd pack,

i'll make sure to post here when i release another new pack :D

Keep em commin! You made yourself a sale!

Nice model packs you got there. I'll definitely purchase some of them.

Nice packs for sure!

Right, I'm ready for pack 4.

My vote is for another Fantasy RPG type.

Let's have it.

Also, I want to see some Blitzers making some new skins for these models - off you all go - I'll wait here - keep watch.

Mmm, has anyone loaded the MilkShape version into MilkShape? Is it supposed to have that big tangle of blue and yellow lines all over it - like the character is inside a ball of wool - trying to get out. It appears to be the skeleton?

How much is this one?:

She isn't featured as a pack but she is in the portfolio section.

In fact, you could make just as much money (if not more) by selling new skins for the models.

dooby-doo.

thanks again guys :D

@puki:
that model is commisioned by someone for their game (i accept freelance work too if when i have some free time :D),
so it is not available for sale :P , however i will make Female NPC pack as my next one, hopefully you can wait until then :P

Mmm, not sure I like you doing contract work for other people as it means I have to wait longer. Although, you seem to have removed that from your website - I'm sure the other day you were offering contract jobs and now you are not.

Not sure I like the fact that some models are not for sale because someone contracted them. Can the other people sell them direct or enable you to sell them on some kind of royalty deal?

nice stuff . do i get a discount for being handsome

She's married.

@Ruz:
thank you

@puki:
my plan is to release at least one pack for each month,
i limit my side project to 3 project at a time, so i still have some free time to keep doing more pack :D

and about the website, i hide my custom work service menu whenever i have enough project

=======

A pack a month - hey, that is pretty good.

Just some advice for you - if it is Fantasy/RPG characters (Dungeons and Dragons sort of stuff) then you'll probably find me a constant buyer.

I have been trying to buy this stuff for a while (the characters/animals/monsters): http://www.realmcrafter.com/Content.php

Apparantly, they are intending to sell this stuff as unencryped media at some point and I note they have listed 3D models in their 'Shop' section - although there is no content there yet. So, get your skates on before they start churning this stuff out.

@puki:
thanks for the suggestion, that D&D stuff you show me is looking great,
i guess i have to work harder & take less sleep from now on

Right, I have had a chance to study this more closely.

The walking/running animation is odd - I thought this when I watched the video footage before purchasing. The animation is closer to walking up stairs than to actual wallking. The problem lies with the lead foot - instead of the character stepping forward like in real life, it raises its knee an puts it back down again as though it was walking up stairs. The same with the running animation - basically, in a nutshell, the heel of the characters leading foot never passes beyond the back of his knee.

Still, on the plus side - these models are amazingly priced and come with a variety of animations.

I would have preferred to have paid more for more animations though - I prefer a character to have at least 2+ idle and 2+ attack animations - just to make it seem a bit more real.

One of the problems with computer games is that when a character is not doing something then it is generally 'idle' and if you have a game full of characters that all are doing the same 'idle' animation, then you don't really have much of a game.

WAIT A MINUTE!!!

Are these your models too:

If so, HAND THEM OVER TO ME!!! IT IS THE LAW!!!

Plus, hardcoding the texture file-name into the .b3d file may not be the ideal way of doing it considering the base model was designed to be re-textured from a choice of 2 textures. I don't actually yet know whether it is or isn't a problem - I am just pondering what might be happening when using hundreds of characters.

It prompted this question:

Heh. Although, you only get 2 skins with the packs. I have been experimenting and you can make loads of new characters out of the original 2. All you need to do is use a paint package to freehand copy bits and paste them in elsewhere between the two skins.

Here is a selection made with character one - some of which use parts from character 2 - bare in mind the fact that you can do this with character 2 too:

...or you can make your own textures too.

woah.. thanks puki :D
i never know that you replied to this thread until today :P
Is there a way to track every new reply, so everytime someone reply to the post i will get an email ??

thanks again :D

@Puki: You're doing us all a big favour by doing so much testing and passing back your imperssions. Thanks.

@evi: Not seen your models animated, but having animated some myself, I know what Puki means about the realism of the walk - it really is such a difficult thing to do but worth persevering with, especially if you're looking at a village full of people as I suspect Puki is.
Definitely produce more skins for each model - people won't mind paying for them, and creating good skins is an art in intself - most people have a go themselves then give up, so they will pay for them.

Actually, with regard to the hard-coding one of the textures to the model, I noticed that Blitz didn't mind if I just renamed the texture (so the .b3d couldn't find it) - it loaded okay as a skinless mode. However, as reported before, when I edited the texture reference out of the model I got a small drop in file size. So, either method had no drawbacks - but editing the .b3d file reduced it by a fraction in size.

Still, it is a step forward for me to be making new characters out of pieces of the 2 skins. Luckily one of the character doesn't have gloves and the other one does - so you can swap their 'hands' about. I've even swapped their heads. You can swap their shoes, trousers, shirts too to make lots of subtle and not so subtle combinations of the two original characters.

Plus, I even changed the colour of their eyes too.

One thing I'd like to try is to change their hair color, but that is too difficult for me - no good as a digital artist - sniff.
