Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Rockstars new GTA beater, table tennis 360

Just thought it was funny that Rockstar are making a table tennis game with dodgy looking characters in.

Broken fingers

Hmm... impossible camera angles for actually being able to control the game... soft self-shadows... concealment of artist's apparant inability to do hair... pixel pefect cloth sim... I smell renders!

Surprisingly ugly ring, though... considering.

I dunno, these "screenshots" just don't impress me enough compared to those Madden 2006 ones with the snow!
No way I'm buying this game :P

EDIT:
Ah, never mind that, now I've actually read the article.
How on earth would you control this thing?!
(Or do you?)
Could still well be cinematics that were selectively handed to the media to act as previews of the game. I trust the article, of course. They didn't mention anything about odd camera angles without an HUD to help remedy the problem, which is clearly visible in that screenshot, so I will have to assume that they played a different game from what I am looking at.

Why is the Adidas logo on the guy's shorts, glowing? Do I smell heavy sponsorship? :P

From what I hear, they are doing table tennis because it is a very limited enviornment, so they can use all the processing power to generate amazing looking character models.

damn, this game is going to be kickass. tabble tennis is the only reason i need to buy the xbox 360.

I spy a thundercats logo in the first screeny! :D

Great shots, but the developer is misinformed at least. "Since Pong there was no Table-Tennis game" is simply wrong. I remember a C64 game, features this sport.
This game is full of product placement. But for a real TT-Fan/player, this is great. It adds more admosphere to the game.

There are also many Flash/Shockwave table tennis games, like this one: http://www.ittf.com/Games/game.htm

I had a table tennis game for the Amstrad CPC, wayback. It was pretty good, too.

You see, I can actually understand how to control that one :)

The other one could very well be in-game stuff, but it's not necessarily showing me how the game plays. (The HUD could be a giant red box).

I actually expect the game to be more like the screenshot big10p posted. Maybe with slightly dynamic camera, and cut scenes and replays. But essentially the same format during gameplay.

Could definately be a good game, so long as they don't try and be too creative with the camera.

Table Tennis

You mean ping pong right?

:-P
