HELP ME! My PC is dying

The NVIDIA System Sentinel is reporting that the NVIDIA powered graphics card is not receiving sufficient power.

My screen is being randomly populated by green dots, even as I type. My PC is apart but can't tell what could be affecting its power. What should I do? HELP! :)

power supply broken?
try to get out and insert again the gfx and check the (eventually present) cable from the psu
maybe is not the psu broken, only the cables...

Enay, if its old, might wanna get a new PSU anyway just to be safe.

Dude, i had the same thing, make sure you have plugged in seperate power plugs from your psu into your graphics card, it happends from 6800s and up.
Thats what fixed mine, i forgot to plug in one of the cables. :D

Still, good excuse to buy a nice new modern system.

the psu is a good part to replace just for testing. Most places have no problem with you returning a power supply but might with a cpu/motherboard/and even sometimes a gpu.

Well fixed it now. Turns out the fan on the gfx card has got stuck, I literally had to scrape away the dust with a screwdriver as large chunks of it had gathered preventing it from turning around. Thankgod it wasn't something serious.

After testing, it seems XP has now reverted back to its usual sluggish self but WITHOUT fatally crashing anymore. So I think things are back to normal now. :)

so you no longer use 98? wow... all you need now is a hoover, some clean clothes and a new pc :)

One of my graphics card fans just went kaput yesterday. I have a Geforce. And it's not stuck due to dust cause I cleaned it out about a month ago after it started making noise. I guess it just burnt out. But it means I now once again have to have a big fan blowing on the inside of my PC to keep it cool. :-(

I prefer passive cooling systems anyway. No noise and no moving parts to break.
