Firefox problem
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Firefox problem
Everytime I restart my computer, every single bookmark in Firefox disappears. I had a collection of about 100+ bookmarks before, all gone. After that I tried to put back most of them, but another restart led to more screaming and frustration.
What is the cause of this? It's getting really annoying. I haven't shut down my computer in days just because I want those bookmarks to stay there.
Sounds like a bug...
I'd look for it and post it here:

I think it's a bigger problem. Suddenly the GIMP doesn't work and iTunes isn't the default audio player anymore. Surely there is someone here that has had this problem before.
In that case... I don't know :P
Have you tried a system restore?
I find that that sometimes helps to fix those weird problems that suddenly crop up and seem to affect everything.
Have you installed anything lately?
Harddrive going bad? Sounds like files are getting corrupted...
As for your bookmarks, Firefox keeps up to around 5 backups of them, which is located (under WinXP) in
"C:\Documents and Settings\<UserName>\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<Profile>\bookmarkbackups"
Just copy the latest backup and overwrite the bookmars.html file in the previous directory
Genexi2 - thanks for that!
Mr. Picklesworth - in the last couple of days, I installed Platypus, AVG Free, Hamsterball Gold and Blender. Could these programs have had any affect on my system?
I think I should try getting a new harddrive, or deleting everything off of it.
I might just be stupid, but try a virus/spyware scan?
Worth a shot any way :P
I already did that. AVG found nothing, Ad-Aware found nothing...
I'll try again.
EDIT: Just replaced the bookmarks.html and restarted Firefox with no luck...all the bookmarks are still missing.
Uninstall Firefox and install Opera?
*ducks*
Everything is back to normal, except that I cant type apostrophes in Firefox...
Forgot to mention you can restore stuff by loading Firefox in Safe Mode, it'll bring up a little prompt window.
(need to close off Firefox completely before doing so though)
Uninstall Firefox and use Internet Explorer
*ducks*
