Computer networking tools...

Does anyone happen to know of (free) software that helps to more easily make use of networked computers?
What I am mostly hoping for is having mirrored folders (stuff like web favourites and my programming resources being always the same on both computers, without me having to knowingly transfer data between them).
Any other features would be nice, too, of course :)

I'm not asking you to do a Google search for me. Just, if you happen to have used a program like this before or if you know of one that's good, please let me know!

Of course it still exists for Windows XP. It's just not as prominent.
