best wishes to Oblivion players.

Just wanted to say to all those who've just started to play Oblivion, so long and thanks for all the posts. Have a nice escape from reality, maybe catch you in a few months or something. Remember to pee and occasionally boil a kettle for another pot noodle. :-)

Man this game must really be quite good.

I haven't played a game this long since...forever.

I just picked it up for the xbox 360 and it is fantaaassssstic! I don't think that it will keep me from coding... but it will definetly eat a fat chunk of my life.

It sure LOOKS nice. The outside scenery is incredible.

We can now make fun of all those people and they'll not notice now :)

Shame I'm not playing it then.

maybe games like oblivion should force the characters to have a time out when they eat or pee and you can't control the player and as you are bored waiting, you might actually go and eat or pee yourself (as opposed to surfing this forum) hehe.

I've not seen any wandering animals in Oblivion other than deer and wolves.

Would have been nice for some birds and bunny rabbits/squirrels and stuff like that in there.

They probably didn't want you getting too aroused at the site of woodland creatures, puki.

Yeh, but it is easy enough to add that stuff in.

I admit, I'd give chase to the little animals - not to kill them, just to play with them.

That's just gross.

crabs hey, were they on the village barmaid? In Ultima VII Serpant Isle, I'll never forget seducing the barmaid and actually there was a special animation for him in bed (under the covers) with her, it was well funny. then later I had it off with a sorceress too, cool.

Oh, I can't recall seeing a bird - I've heard them, but not actually seen one.

well there's a whole lotta difference between a bird sample and a 3D bird flying around with a behavior algorithm.

I am going out to buy this game today.... After watching a ton of videos on this, I know I am going to have to suck it up and become addicted to this for a while...

Just finished moving house over the weekend, but did buy Oblivion on Friday night - managed to squeeze in 1.5 hours on it last night. So far just wandering around caves / sewers etc. but still great fun. Can't wait to play it more!

there are other animals...while wolves and dear seem to populate most area's.
There are some with black Bear and Mountain lions.

also theres sheep...some were wandering free, but there was a pen near by...so I doubt I would
run into them on a mountain side or anyhting.

I dont think Ive seen a Bird either, hear them...but havent seen one, only butterflies.

any cliff racers this time? I havent seen one

A cliff racer is a flying thing from Morrowind. They were VERY annoying... you'd find them every 10 feet and you couldn't ever run away from them... they just float closer and closer to you... so you have to fire 1000 arrows at it because they were also hard as hell to hit.... with anything... even magic.

(until they added the area effect arrows in a patch... then a radius 20 magic ball of death would take them out pretty good if you could strike near them)

Alright, I picked it up yesterday, started playing, and didnt want to stop.

I am not a fan of RPGs at all, but this is how RPGs should be in my opinion.

I am really anxious to play it again today.

Have to control myself so I can still get coding done tonight :-(

hmmm... I rode my horse off the cliff from the Blades compound you bring martin to, down to the shrine at the base 100 yards from bruma... then was assaulted.. and watch my horse take out a load of enemies on it's own......

maybe you just get crap horseys

maybe thats it...Damn wolves almost killed my horse..course it wasnt the Black 5000$ one

I just read a review of Oblivion (www.actiontrip.com) and i have to say it sounds like something that will eat me.

Its the funiest game i have ever played.

OMG.

Its just bizzare.

But fun.

It is pretty amazing. It looks fantastic too(if you have the hardware.)

is a last gen 9800XT 256MB RAM good enough? IT was the top card *then*

I've got a x1800xt card, and its übersmooth if I just leave the HDR & AA off.

Im running everything at high on my 6800gt, but it wont let me have HDR and AA at the same time, IM using HDR.
1280x1024
(I think only x1800 and x1900 ati cards and do both at the same time)

I also turned off self shadows on this card...it didnt slow it down that much,,but it was ugly..like it didnt do it right.


The 9800Xt should run it, fx5900's and 5950's do a decent job and the 9800 should do better with shader 2.0

ok thanks, maybe I'll wait till it's cheap and my next game makes millions then I'll buy an Uber PC and play it in my beach hut in Florida or wherever I'm lounging :-)
