BlitzMax TrueVision3d wrapper?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/BlitzMax TrueVision3d wrapper?

Greetz. :)

I just licensed TrueVision3d and wanted to know if a wrapper was possible much like the 3Impact wrapper. I seem to remember Syb/Phill working on one but don't know if it's done or being worked on. If it is I would very much like to test it out with TV6.5.

My question is, is there a working wrapper for BMax?
Is anyone planning on officially doing one?
If one does exist where can I get it?

If you have one working Syb/Gab can I test it out?

Thanks. :)

Isn't Gabriel working on a wrapper for TV3D?

Yeah, he is. I just found the thread. I wonder if I can test it out.

Yes, it's pretty much done, but there's so much in there that I haven't been able to test everything, so there are almost certainly bugs left. How working it is, I don't know. But I can load and animate character models, texture them, move them, rotate them, do vector, quaternion and matrix maths, load and display custom shaders ( this is not easy, but the wrapper has no faults ), use TV3D's built in shader effects, and stuff like offset bump mapping. There could be quite a lot of bugs, but they should be easy to fix and the module license will dictate that anyone who fixes a bug has to share the fix, so everyone will benefit.

If you have one working Syb/Gab can I test it out?

As soon as the TV3D guys release the next beta. I don't have permission ( and frankly wouldn't want permission ) to distribute the Lib and DLL necessary to use my wrapper, and the TV3D guys have decided they're going to release the GCC compatible TV3D build when they release the next beta.

So essentially, as soon as they release the next beta, I'll make whatever additions/changes are necessary for the wrapper to work with the new version and release it.. purely for beta owners.

Sorry it can't be sooner, but even if I had permission to distribute the preview versions they gave me, I wouldn't like to be the one who verifies everyone who downloads has permission to do so.

Sounds cool Gab. I've only Licensed the Single Commercial version of TV3D and if I like what I'm able to do with it with the BMax wrapper I may upgrade to the commercial Unlimited license.

I'm glad you're working on this as the thought of using TV3D with C++ or VB sends chills down my spine. To me, if I can use TV3D and code my game in BMax then it would appear to be the perfect combo.

I'll check back to your worklog every now and then to see what progress has been made.

Thanks again dude. :)
