The sad thing is, if any company tried to do a commercial like
these today, people would just shrug it off as CG.

I bet those things handle like boats, although those drivers seem to be OK.

Damn fine commercials... but I guarantee you that while there was no cgi... There was some creative use of scale models and some tow-bars, and support frames to tie more than one car together in some cases.

they did with them in the commercial, I am especially
surprised you would say that!

Did anyone notice that single weird frame that isn't cars, but is too small to figure out, at 29 seconds?


...So, why do they still bother making those stupid car comercials with vehicles showing off their crappy tires as they skid all over a parking lot, when they've already clearly been beaten by these ones?

I guess they didn't do proper editing.

I really like car stunts, sad they are pretty rare nowadays.

They did roll a bit when slaloming.

That's because they're actually family cars.

If you want to eliminate rolling when slaloming in your family
car, a simple sway bar will fix that. Afaik, they're a simple
install.

And besides, whether a car leans or not during a turn says
very little about it's actual or even potential performance.

Weight distribution and power do!

especially if it's not taken too seriously...


what does interest me is the clip you managed to see drew... how did you notice that, it flew right by me unnoticed...

old age and failing eyesight... actually i was a lil preoccupied with the other two monitors that are demanding my attention here... i'd like to think that's why i missed it :)

drew: it's not just the bar, it's the suspension too. Plus for cornering lowering a car is always good. Sad, but true, I bought my car probably because of GT3 on PS2.

Grey, Did you hear about those Ford dealerships in the States
giving away custom demo versions of GT3? Apparently the disc had a handful of Ford cars to try out in the game.

And yeah you're right about needing other tweaks as well
to transform one of these little things into a full-fledged
racer.

My point was simply that these cars more than likely do
not handle 'like boats'. That's just silly.

I guess, so. I have been in some right boats in my time though, like old Vauxhall Astras and Citroen Xantias, yuk!
