Well... for newer vid cards there'll be new driver for that, however the MSOGL way looks much like those days when Win95/98 came with a OpenGL 1.1 driver.
Another problem is I don't know how many software will continue to work on Vista(how much does Vista break Win32?)
not to take the thread too far off topic, but... i can't help but wondering toby, since you brought it up in your post above... which way would you prefer to take it...

The 32bit version of Vista will still run 16bit Windows 3.1 programs. Compatability shouldn't really be an issue for 32bit Windows programs. Of course we will still have the DEP issues and such... But we already have that with XP so it won't be a shock to anybody.
