Best Threaded Game

First Prize of $30,000, PC & Software
Your entry must run noticeably better on an Intel® machine with a dual core Pentium® Extreme Edition processor than a similar machine with a single core processor*. Your program will need at least two threads running substantial amounts of code in parallel in order to win this category. Entries will be scored based on quantitative (frames per second) and qualitative (extra features, user experience) improvements when run on multi-core. 1 to 100 points awarded.

Best Game on the Go

First Prize of $30,000, PC & Software
Laptops provide special challenges and opportunities for games. Entries will be scored based on how well they support the laptop gaming experience with unique mobile features. Examples of unique mobile features are power monitoring, power consumption, displaying network connectivity, dealing with interrupted networking, and handling standby mode. 1 to 100 points awarded.

In addition to the category-specific criteria, each entry will be graded on these general criteria.


Gameplay: Is your game fun to play? 1 to 100 points awarded.
Graphics: How visually appealing is your game? 1 to 50 points awarded.
Audio: Does your game have great sound effects and music? 1 to 50 points awarded.

Each category has first through fifth place winners, who will all receive regular single user licenses of Intel® Threading Tools and Intel® VTune™ Performance Analyzer. In addition to the licenses, third place winners will receive $1250. Second place winners will receive $2500. First place winners will receive $30,000 and a Dell Inspiron E1705 laptop valued at $3114:

Somehow I doubt that it will make much of a difference, since the major bottleneck for games doesn't seem to be the CPU, but video adapter, bus speed or memory limitations...

But I guess they need something to give people the illusion they can't live without one of those chips... Too bad for intel that AMD's dual core's blow the intel ones out of the water.
