Are we going to get it for Blitz£D/MAx ?
Novodex (PhysX) coming to DBPro
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Novodex (PhysX) coming to DBPro B3D: Not likely.
Max: Not likely for Max3D.
Max: Not likely for Max3D.
I think we need to get VIP3R on this next !
Eliza3D seems working with this, check his site

What I really care is the ODE module Mark's developing(whaich appears in BMax v1.12 mak module and not present later.)

Aren't there license fees for using this in a shareware/commercial product? If so, that would be one reason BRL wouldn't want to integrate it directly into the language. Less likely to bother DBPro users, since it's not really aiming for the shareware market in the first place.
In any case, I think Mark decided on ODE for BMax.

The license for commercial use is around $50K if I remember right.
AFAIK, this price won't be applied to DBPro users, who will pay around $60 for the module, and will be able to use it free of royalties. TGC must have paid good money to achieve that.

Somehow TGC is buying everything together they can get their hands on ... instead of getting up what they already have (all aliencodec costumers that mailed them to get access to blitztree and blitzgrass which is owned by TGC as well know what I mean ... no reaction beside "will hand this to the webmaster" for over 2 months now. And its not like I am a TGC costumer with 4 products as well)
Ogre has twor ageia addons as well as newton, ODE, Tokomak. And theres an abstraction layer called gangasta or something allows the use of different physics libraries through a consistent API. It's possible to swap between different physics engines without altering code. Interfaces are provided to connect it to your visualisation framework of choice.
Lots of nice things coming to DBPro, those guys really know how to embrace technology.
Those guys know about marketing, networking and what their target audience want, and how to go about getting it. Probably have a dedicated marketing guy/team to cover areas that BRL are particularly weak at.

Ah, I see. Well not meaning to sound mean, but I've always felt BRL have let us down in this area. It's like a hermit operation which refuses to talk to anyone else. It took several months to even get them to talk to Nvidia about a possible bug. In the Amiga days, I'm sure this wasn't a problem but with the market the way it is now, no one company can do everything and having good relations with the important players is vital. It's not as though ATI, Nvidia, Ageia, whoever are unapproachable as DB Pro and Milkshape have demonstrated.

From the DBP forum... If you want to sell your games using DarkPHYSICS you must contact Ageia for a commercial use license. This license should be FREE - assuming your title shows off the hardware effects. In the contract with them there are a set of conditions that your game needs to comply with, do these and the license will be FREE (for PC).
Hmm...I'd definitely want some clarification before I developed a commercial product with it.I'm afraid I have to agree with Gabriel. :o/
Guess what?
There's no problem. The license is free, but you must negotiate it - this is fair and standard practise.
AGEIA is AMAZING. It makes darkbasic pro THE number 1 language to develop physics based games in... I have it on good accord that this is the case.
I personally, would choose Dbpro over blitz if I needed physics in my games. I mean - I get physics AND shaders... it's mind blowing.
I love physics and they've gone and done the best for me - thats why I'll be buying it just to check it out... and if early glimpses are anything to go by, it's gonna rock.
Btw, dbpro's bugs have also been fixed :)
Maybe one day blitzmax 3d will be here, but until that day, I believe dbpro + ageia is the best solution if you're a physics lover.

What Rob said. Definitely going to be looking at DBPro now with the vast majority of bugs having been eliminated and this being introduced.
ogre has Ageia support through a couple of wrappers and libs. There's a game that uses it

PhysX is an awesome physics library there's no doubting that whatsoever, but there's a sting in the tail as far as I can see. It's nothing to do with the license though, have you tried the SDK demos? The accuracy and stability of PhysX comes at a price... speed. Without the hardware it doesn't exactly run like greased lightning and you can probably forget fluid dynamics altogether on non-accelerated machines. It needs that hardware for a reason.
The Havok FX GPU route looks both interesting and promising too...

...whether that's suitable for us lot though is another story, back to the licensing scenario once again ;)

I have tried some of the demos - very fast if you know what you're doing. AGEIA owns every big physics library out there (they have been buying aggressively) and you can be sure optimisations are something of a regular thing.
I didn't notice any slowness about it.
One thing I liked was that it seemed rock solid, that is, my stuff wouldn't suddenly explode in a bad simulation

@One Eyed Jack
do you have any links to the demos would like to see them

Wait till the dbpro addon is out - then you will be pretty gob-smacked ;)
but....its dark basic......!
yeah... Dark Basic... it's the biggest problem out here, Lee can't even make it stable now.
