Kind of what I expected from Sony's previous track record. Allthough I had hoped they might have changed since PS2.

PS3 Media bias perhaps? the above link shows how different online gaming sites recieved the PS3 demos. And how they compare to the two that are working with Sony on their networking.

All I can say is that I'm not really that impressed with what I saw in the video's. I'm probably going to stick to my trusty old PC till next year now anyway. When hopefully there will be some cool platform exclusive games that make me want to buy one over the other.

Well, that demo was a bit disappointing. The ducky
physics and the fish section was nice, but if your entire
selling point is the system's processing power, as is
Sony's, this is a lackluster way to present it.

No wonder there's been a delay. Tech demos usually
have no AI or background processing going on, usually
allowing for mondo-cool visuals.

Unless the system running in that video was
simultaneously calculating the 4 trillionth digit of pi, I'm
not impressed. (Yet)

I am fully aware of what happens once devs get the
hang of the tools.

(And Evak, don't use apostrophes. It's less annoying to
leave 'em out altogether than to put 'em where they
don't belong.)

Well, it is not like the graphics are BAD or anything... They look pretty good for a console, and I am sure you can make a lot of awesome games on the machine.

But, if the PS3 is gonna cost $1200 like some are saying, I don't think it is gonna do well. The graphics don't look any better than a $400 Xbox 360, or a $1000 PC. They better get that PS3 cost down to $400 if they want my dollar. Yeah, I know it has "blue-ray", but really, I could care less about that.

they never said it would cost $1000, that's thats how much it costs to make. Sony hope to sell it for $400 - $500

Wasn't impressed with the tech demos myself. Look forward to seeing actual games at E3 though.

Yep. There's no way they'd try selling it for $1000+, even if that's what it costs to make. That would be commercial suicide.

As far as I know, there have been many recent cases of
companies selling consoles at a loss.

Hey, whatever gets them into the home, I guess.

Sony have a lot at stake with PS3 and Blueray. So I can see them doing it. The last 2-3 years their games division has been the only one turning a profit. And thats been in decline with Xbox outpacing PS2 in many regions.

There's no point in over speculating till the system is released surely? That's also like saying the Revoution isn't up to par. Noone knows for certain yet either way.

But the X-Box 360, that's already out, we can buy and play it and we know that is bad!

I'll be fair and give the 360 a chance to mature before I say it "sucks".
Though I will always faithfully dislike Microsoft and every
shallow, money-grabbing venture they take.

Hiring celebrities to promote the 360? How uselessly
superficial! Do they even know what video games are?

Ugh.

360 is a really impressive system, and started getting some decent games to prove it. the new ghost recon is amazing and mixes the best of GR with full spectrum warrior tactics. Graphics are really nice too.

If you judge the system by the launch titles which were 70% EA, or kiddie Rare games, then your not going to like it. Allthough fightnight is a big improvement over current gen games, and burnout 3 got a nice lick of paint.
