You once suggested in the B3D bug forums that BRL can't be expected to monitor the bug forums and, if we felt a post had been left unanswered, we should email BRL to bring it to their attention.
I'll send an email BUT it appears there's a few Bmax bug posts to be responded to.
I personally would prefer that people not be able to create new topics in the bug reports forums, and instead that any topics found to contain accurate bug reports then be moved to bug reports.
This would ensure that every report in said forums are authenticated by at least one member of the BRL team and that by being moved into a bug reports forum the author is acknowleged as being the "discoverer".
I would also like to be able to hand out browny points to users who fix known bugs, BlitzMax includes full source to all modules in an effort to encourage such acts of selfless goodwill and some way of reciprocating our respect would be very handy...
I think that would work better Skidracer. Perhaps one of the mods could volunteer to go over the forums each day searching for bug reports, verify it exists then move said topic to the correct forum.
A status flag added to the bug report to state if an offical BRL staff member is working on the bug or not. If not and a member fixes the bug then that member could add an attachment to the bug report for official BRL staff to verify it.

That sounds fine, as long as the situation with B3D where confirmed bug reports ( eg: antialiasing ) were ignored for two or three years and then either deleted or moved without any comment from anyone at BRL wasn't allowed to repeat itself.
I don't see any problem with any one posting to a bug report topic, I would just prefer to be moving valid reports into the the bug report forum than having to deal with all the unsubstantiated and duplicate reports.
Why not have a separate bug forum for confirmed bugs? Then move validated 'bug reports' to that forum where either the community or BRL could have a go at solving it. I think you would miss a lot of valid bug reports if they were posted in the other forums.

Here's a very simple solution that doesn't require any new forum jiggery-pokery. One you could implement now. Make the genuine, known, reproducible bugs sticky.
Do want me to go and bump all the ones that fit the bill for you? Again?
I guess there is one small problem though: you'd have at least 2 or 3 pages of sticky posts...

We're already expected to document and support the products so I guess we could take over bug fixing too.
Ahem... Ok. Not totally support them. What help we get is appreciated.
Looks like your point got missed again, Gab.
We did not ignore antialiasing, it works with some drivers and fails on others, hence was never considered it a Blitz3D bug.
However, for the 2 years I've been working at BRL I have yet to contribute to the Blitz3D source (besides the earlier PixelFast commands) and AA settings are at the top of my list given the opportunity.
What about dxtc?
I would prefer 8 bit texture support myself.
lol. It's too late Ross, he's gone. :P
I reckon BRL are just going to add 'DXTC' to the swear filter on these forums, so they never have to answer the question. :P
Any plans for it to be added? 8 bit or dxtc? thanks for responding btw :o)
I'd have to do my own tests before answering that one.
Why not just have a html bit of text showing which bugs are active before the topic listing?
Like say in the style now where it only says "@BlitzSupport".
Then people can read through that list without clicking on any topics.
Thanks Skid. It's been talked about many times, without anyone at BRL saying anything. I appreciate it if you could post anything on it about blitz3d! Cheers.
