Help: Program Files listed in Start menu

In my start menu all programs section, I have a listing of the contents of "Program Files" and well I don't want it their

If it could help any one help me, it's not listed in the start menu in either my acount or all users acount their is not the contents of program files.

Sorry if I am missing any thing really obvious.

How about right clicking on the folder then choosing delete? Since it's jus short cuts, you would only be removing it from the start menu.

If it's XP, goto: C:\documents and settings\<username>\start menu\

and delete it from there.

I have gone there and they are not listed there. If I delete it by right clicking it in the start menu and select delete it deletes the actural folder.

Yes it's some obscure registry setting that allows program files (and control panel etc) to appear in the start menu, i couldn't tell you where to look in the registry though!

Have you also checked c:\documents and settings\all users\start menu\ ?

Many programs put themselves there rather than under your own profile, so it is visible to anyone using the system.

Yep looked their must and it's not.
So maybe it is the registry setting if any one knows of it please tell me
