seem to have a got a weird virus, keep getting a warnings for a Windows temp file, hundreds of the keep appearing. any ideas for a fix
ie win87.tmp.exe virus is Troj_DLOADER.cjj
It isn't a virus - this is a trojan. The fact that you have it does not mean you are wide open to intrusion.
It is possibly trying to download further files to your computer but not succeeding.
If you normally use Internet Explorer, then start using Firefox or similar.
I assume you have scanned your computer with all the anti-virus and anti-malware that you have.
What anti-virus and anti-malware software do you use?
What you have is a variant of a trojan - it doesn't Google - but its friends do 'Troj_DLOADER' - it's a hybrid.
hmm, so what to do about it. My virus scanner picks up the temp files it creates and quarantines them but where is the offenining file which is creating these temp files.
there are about 27 possibilities to start an app at machine startup, but I'd suggest to check the autostart list, using msconfig.exe (it that still working on XP?).
You may have to disable System Restore on ME or XP, then scan for viruses again. Open the task manager and kill suspect tasks. (On Win98/ME aou need to use a third party task manager that displays hidden tasks as well)
Backup your registry and then see if removing suspect entries in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
will do the trick.
Can you go to your virus scanner's web page? They may have a list of trojans and fixes.
