Best PCI (no express) Nvidia card?

I am having trouble finding a GE Force 6800 that is a PCI, not a PCI-E. I have a 2.5 ghz CPU, and don't see any reason to replace my whole computer, just so I can install a new graphics card. Please advise.

What kind of motherboard that supports a 2.5ghz CPU doesn't have an AGP slot?

I have never used an AGP card, so I don't know for sure how to install them. I also have a rather small case, so I would rather use something in the same PCI slot I am using now.

My advice would be to go with an AGP card. If you have an AGP slot, it wouldn't make much sense to go with PCI instead. They're much easier to find, and also a lot faster than their PCI equivalent. There are no differences when installing the two, you simply seat the card in the slot.

If the PCI card takes up a single slot, the AGP version should too.

There are no cards more powerful than a 5200 that will go into a regular PCI slot. PCI is ancient technology, so it's surprising you can even get those.

I don't understand the problem with installing an AGP card. It's the same process as installing a PCI card, the slot is just a different shape and color.

Like Gabriel said, the 5200 is about the best you can get and I can tell you from experience (I have one PC with no AGP slot) that these are horrible cards and perform very poorly. 2D is acceptable, but anything 3D is very slow.

yup... it's either the GeForceFX5200 or the Radeon 9200...

the 9200 is ps 1.4 only though, while the FX5200 is ps2...

Not really. If you have an industrial system, you can have a setup with several PCI buses and up to 4 graphics cards on each bus.

This is also the reason why Caddy drives (CDROM, DVD-ROM etc) are still produced. They are needed for industrial
data storage systems.

Well since the GF4MX's don't have PCI-Express models, it's clearly PCI. And PCI-Express is like AGP, you get one or two, not a whole set of 5. The set of 5 would be PCI even if your mobo did support PCI-Express.

open up the pc, and plonk it in, however its possible you will not have an agp slot. doh

Incorrect. There's a number of motherboards out there with 4 or more PCIE slots.

there are but the video pcie will be the biggest slot, and so far the most ive seen is 2 slots that size.

i have a geforce fx 5500 pci and it costed me about $75.

make sure yoo have an AGP slot before purchasing a new card, most the ones I have seen coloured brown and are usualy closer to the PSU above the PCI slots.

Some naughty dealers advertise PC's as having AGP, but forget to fit a mobo with the slot and yoo are stuck with the onboard rubbish.

Dunno... Not sure what the architecture is, but the limited edition Dell that they are putting out is QUAD 7800GTX video cards (or so I read).
