Do NOT use register.com
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Do NOT use register.com
I purchased a few domain names through register.com. I had a new bank account, and had to try the bank card several times before a successful transaction occured. I set up service, and all was fine, until a week later, when the web sites no longer worked.
I called register.com and was told that their fraud department had suspected the transaction might be fraudulent, since I used the wrong address a few times before getting it right. They wanted to charge me $120 for each domain name, to re-register them. I was relayed between four people, then told someone would contact me. I was sent a form letter today, asking for $120 for each domain.
Don't use this company.
Look who owns "www.registerdotcomsucks.com":
120 dollars apiece??? what were they originally?
Congratulations! registerdotcomblows.com is available
I have used them in the past and never had any problems.
That was for one year.
I'm sure you'll be fine, most of the time. Just hope nothing goes wrong.
Halo: use namesecure.com to get your domains.
The ONLY service I use and the only one I put my clients with. I have never had an ounce of trouble with them. I have used them since '98 or '99.
Never get your domains through your web host. If you ever need to change hosts, it can be a hassle to take your domain with you. Always use a third-party service for domain names ;c)
Been using register.com for the past 5 years without a problem. Although, I haven't had any issues that need resolving from them so I just haven't seen the bad side of their busienss.
Sounds like you've been taken for a ride. If the transaction goes through once, regardless of anti fraud measures, they are bound to give you what you paid for - or give you a full refund.
Simply get your full refund. They did not deliver the product. Then let the domains expire properly and register with a proper company next time.
I did get a refund, but now I am back where I started.
Hmm. Josh I have been using these guys for 6 years, and not had a problem so far. My brother has over 40 domains registered with them too and been with them a lot longer.
I think you just had some bad luck.
So does that mean you can't have the names you wanted? That would suck! What about trying elsewhere for them - or phone register up and try to get the original ones again?
Hope you get it sorted.

Hello.
Hmmm, interesting. A thread that mentions religion or war will get removed because of upset that it could cause people, yet a thread that could potentially see BRL in legal trouble for the views expressed on their site stays open.
I'm not having a go halo, you seem to have had a bad time with the company but it seems as though you are the exception here. Register.com might have a case for chasing BRL and you for, I guess, defamation. Especially since you got your money back and it seems to all have worked out - your comments are doing nothing but creating bad publicity for a company that seemingly don't deserve it.
Just a thought.
Goodbye.

www.directnic.com
I use them and they do work. I had a domain name through register.com and though it has expired for 2 years I still cannot buy it from anyone else.
nawi... that's slander, I'm gonna sue you!
It's written.. so it's actually "libel" ;)
I'm gonna sue RockerGnome for defaming my character!
Hello.
Actually, I'm British.
