I already ask this question related to Blitz3D, now Im wondering, is it possible to compile game from BlitzMax for XBOX, keeping in mind Blitzmax multiplatform nature?
BMax XBOX portability...
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/BMax XBOX portability... possible if you wrap the xbox developer sdk I would think
Isnt there a way to run linux on an XBOX ?
If so then i would think linux exe's would work on it but how many xbox user's are going to want to run linux just to play your game ;)

..well..I'm just wondering what will be possible to do with BMax..there is not too many tools available for reasonable price for dealing with Xbox, so thats why I'm asking this questions...
why would you want to? most computers these days have better specs than the xbox.
It was possible to run Linux on an XBOX but our truly lovely company when realized that created an XBOX "OS" update to pass this problem.
The first XBOX"ies can run Linux but if those machines had ever conected to the XBOX Live the update of the "OS" is installed.
Don't try to remember if the installer asked for your permission because that never hapend. It's just done it's job like a virus.
As you have OpenGL if the hardware support OpenGL it's possible to do evrything. If I am not wrong XBOX have ATI so no OpenGL support.

Yes, but do you really think the common Xbox user/player/what have you is going to have Linux on their Xbox?

Yes and no -- The older XBOX systems had some poorly programmed games with buffer overrun problems where you could trick it into running uncertified software because the system inherited the credentials of the game in question. These could be triggered through intentionally malformed savegames for certain games, and other tricks. Alternatively it involved opening the machine and swapping some on-board ROM.
Pretty involved deal, and of very limited use -- XBOX Live will automagically 'upgrade' the vulnerable versions if they connect, plus it will permanently not allow you to play any games online if it detects and modified/uncertified ROM stuff... To 'ensure the overall experience of others to prevent you from running hacked games using cheats', of course...
So if you break into the machine and get it to boot linux, you lose all the xbox online multiplayer functionality.
Only an insignificantly small percentage of xbox owners would ever contemplate cracking their machine, meaning that there would be pretty much no market capable of running your game anyway.
Secondly, the xbox itself is rapidly on the way out, being replaced by the XBOX 360. The 360 is not based around the intel x86 architecture like PC's are. Blitzmax will only support linux on the x86 platform -- so even if people can break the xbox 360 to run linux, Blitzmax linux games will not be compatible with it...
Simply put, or a translation of what xlsior said. NO.
