Everything's finally plugged in (big pic!)
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Everything's finally plugged in (big pic!)

You know how you've been meaning to plug all your bits and
pieces in for the past... um... 2 years?! No... Anyway... I've
finally plugged everything in!
Hurrah!
And notice my new itsy bitsy mixing desk next to the speaker to the left of the monitor... isn't it cute!
Tidy your room boy! That's a mess, cables everywhere! What do I have to do to get some respect around here? Must I do everything mys......
nah... that's a work area... make it too neat and you'll never get anything done :)
--Mike
Yeah, I mean, comeon, you gotta see *my* place if you're affraid of 1 or 2 cables ^_^
hundreds of 'em :P
lefty!
your windows desktop is too neat.
yeah, I mean, comeon, you gotta see *my* desktop ^_^
more icons than pixels :P
Here's my mess, it's a lot tidier today though :D
Awww... you've got winnie the Pooh wallpaper:)
here's mine circa 2001 in my old house. Note the shreddies box patching the window and the Dianna Troy figure on the CD rack! Plus all thse tapes, remember those things?
Thats a bloody big amp! No winder you got a hole in your window ;o)
Hey Rob, looks like you got one of those trusty euroracks. It may even be the same model, mx 602a. I'll upload a pic of my little space later today.
when i was single:

after i lost my singularity:
Thats a bloody big amp! No winder you got a hole in your window ;o)
No lie, I once put it on 5 in rented acommodation and a crack opened in the ceiling above it and dust fell down!
markd: Yeah that room of mine became a kids room and I was relegated to a small area downstairs. However, in the new house I have my own office :-)
Hey Rob, looks like you got one of those trusty euroracks. It may even be the same model, mx 602a.
Mines a Eurorack UB802.
It's always interesting to see other people's set ups!
Comparing Desks eh, Mines a Mackie CR-1604 With full MIDI automation :D, you can't see the syths but I got TG-77, Vintage Keys Plus, Novation Bass Station, AkaiS2000 and S950, coupla Quadraverbs a shed load of VSTi and a D50.
toss in a jp8000 and you'll be all set :)
I did have an old studiomaster diamond 16-2 but it was getting so noisy I had to lose it... I decided that I do more guitar work now so I downsided to 8 inputs (and a desk about a 1/8 the size) and reduced the amount of keyboards. I've now got my Yammy DJX for dirty analog sounds and my Korg 05R/w for clean pads and pianos. And that pretty much covers all bases! So 2 inputs for the Yammy, 2 for the Korg, 1 for mic, 1 for guitar and I've still got 2 spare if I want to plug in something else. Any other sound I need can be VSTed.

Eltax Symphony 14.3 Hifi speakers for daily use.. (they go down to 25hz :D)
..not that I actually use all this stuff.. most I do comes from sampleCD's and a handful of own samples I took from those synths.. :P
My Office:

And an old pic from the attic (very out of date, loads of gear changed since then)
Damn Rik, nice stuff you have there...
Here's my small office space...

Nice Rob.. another lefty guatarist!
RiK: I see there's a picture of me on one of your mugs. I've got an Ibanez bass too but the amp is broke, sniff.
I made a panorama of my workspace, which is pretty much my entire tiny little apartment. :-)
You can see the tiny little kitchen and tiny little bathroom off the tiny little living room.
The pictures don't fit together well, because I didn't have a wide enough angle lens to get stuff into the shot, so I had to stand in the corners instead of the middle.

Mine is worse -- my boss is always watching me.

I bet Noel's code is messy.
I bet the code of most of the people who posted pics here is messy. :-)
nice digs sswift, you buy all that with shadow money?
noel... pledge is your friend.
You tell me.

Markd:
Heh. I thought someone might ask that. :-)
Actually, I got lucky finding it. It's only $595 a month, but it's in a smoking building. And it's on the third floor. Though third floor means I have a view at least. But as you can see, it looks nice and is clean and well maintained.
Most places around here are at least $700, and anything at that price isn't great. Anything less is almost always a slum. At least that's the jist I got when I was looking for a place. I found a place for $650 which was twice the size, but half as clean, and not in as nice an area. And another place for $550 which was what I was going to be stuck with if I didn't get this place was a complete slum and HALF the size! To give you an idea of how bad it was, it had one tiny closet that was two feet wide and two feet deep, dirty carpets, broken bannisters, and the entire outside of the building was covered in little curls of paint as if it hadn't been repainted in 30 years.
Also, all the furniture there including the TV stand and and the surround sound system, are hand me downs from when my dad moved to Florida and decided not to take all his stuff with him cause it would be more expensive to move than to repurchase. So he said anyway. I wasn't going to argue. :-)
So no, not bought with that money. I barely even make enough money off my systems and texture generator to make 50% of my rent, nevermind buy furniture. :-)
Heh my mortgage is about 4 times that.
Noel:
Yup! Not one comment, and all those unserscores in front of your private fields. Tsk tsk!
Yeah those underscores, yuk, how pointless. At least he used objects. I really wish BMax had forward declarations though, then you could look at nice little object declarationa and have all the methods in full further down in your code.
Well I managed to get the methods in the types to look fairly neat at least. But that was something that really annoyed me when I found out about it.

but it's in a smoking building.
Why does that matter? You do realize it doesn't mean you HAVE to smoke to live there, right? :P
Your computer monitor looks broken.
"Why does that matter? You do realize it doesn't mean you HAVE to smoke to live there, right? :P"
Because it's an old building the smoke from the adjacent apartment, and the apartment below filters through the floorboards, and smoke from other apartments filters out into the halls and under my front door which has a half inch gap under it. And I'm not talking about a slight odor either, it's really really strong. Particularly every weekday between 6pm and midnight.
So yes, it's kind of like I have to smoke to live here!
I tried some of those air purifiers, but not even the $150 ones that were really big would do the job, and they were loud and put out stale smelling air.
Thankfully though, the flaws in the building cancle eachother out. The radiators put out so much heat in the winter that I actually have them turned off all the way and my apartment is still warm enough for me to put a fan in my window on occasion DUIRNG THE WINTER MONTHS to blow the smoke odor out.
Actually, I'm not even sure they're smoking. I think the guy next to me smokes, but the kid living below me has some friends over on occasion, and the smoke smells kinda funny, kinda like someone is cooking something. Or perhaps getting baked. :-) Unfortunately, I know know what a joint smells like, but this doesn't smell like a cigarette. It's just all permaeating and annoying. I also suspect it's a joint because "420" is written in my mailbox, and in the phone box in the basement.
Toby:
MY monitor? How so? It's brand new. :-)
I bet Noel's code is messy.
I bet the code of most of the people who posted pics here is messy. :-)
I have no hair left. You can't talk!
sswift: Funnily enough, I understand it even after months of working with that and other code like it.
Is that a joke about my Lego game?
Not my fault!
I was working under a tight deadline and didn't have time to readjust things to make more sense as I went along. :-)
Did you port that whole thing to Blitzmax?
Yeah, swifty, must be annoying if you don't smoke. Where a gas mask? :P
BTW, what's "420" mean?
Bi10p:
420 is like a secret codeword for potheads. There's various lore that surrounds it. Like 4:20 was the time some guys used to meet at school behind the gym to smoke, or that 420 was the police code for posession of marajuana.
I don't think anyone actually knows where it really came from though. But whever you see it, it's a sign there's pot smokers around. :-)
But whever you see it, it's a sign there's pot smokers around. :-)
And you have it written on your mailbox??? Pothead!!! :P
No it's written IN the mailbox. Ig uess one of the previous tenanants must have put it there, but I can't figure out why, unless the mailman is delivering more than letters. :-)
Hmm, I think you've inadvertently moved into a drug den, swifty! :P
Actually you need to find some way to harvest and condense the smoke for those "creative" ideas. Lego MMORPG type thing ;-) Wait a minute, I think we have an explanation for the power ups in your space beetle game haha.
Rob! Your mouse isn't plugged in! :)
