Very exciting!

Quicktime & MPEG demos to the right

Needless to say, I WANT ONE!

truly impressive... but it's still a 2D representation of 3D, or what should be 3D, in a lot of cases...

virtuality is 3D, since the world is 3D... this would be much more impressive (not to say that it's not impressive as is) if it were done in VR, with 3D touch points...

good link Tom... thx...

this is about the 4th time I've seen this. Theres anotehr thread on this forum with them on. It is cool though.

That is brilliant!

Grey: Before posting I did do a search for both 'multitouch' and the url and found nothing :)

Having watched this through a couple of times it really makes you realise how primitive it is only to have one mouse pointer.

Most of the stuff he was doing could easily be achieved with 2 mouse pointers on the screen (with 2 mice), although how natural that would feel is something quite different.

But the whole put 2 pointers on an image and move them apart to make it bigger, move them closer together make is smaller. Drag with one or multiple pointers to rotate, zoom and move... The actual interface itself is pretty straight forward to write.

Brilliant!

I'm so impressed with that!

I think I'd still want a proper keyboard though, something nice and tactile about clicky click rather than dabbing a screen.

It is amazing :)
Makes it a real shame that software is completely coded around having a single mouse, which means that Operating Systems will need to sort out something to make it all work.

Something tells me that picture-viewers like Acdsee, touch-screen or not, must stick to one-hand/mouse operation o_O .. :D

Looks really good but after a day working on a computer like that, you'd be knackered after all that arm waving. :P

I'll stick to my trackball mouse for now - I only have to move my thumb around to use that.

I think it would be cool but better if you can jsut wave hands around in air and it totally knows what you mean.

There's a 'polyphonic-touch-screen' for controlling electronic music devices that's been available commercially for ages :

http://www.jazzmutant.com/lemur_overview.php

Expensive at "2190.00 EUR VAT included without shipping cost", but anybody can buy one - its not 'experimental'.

Has anyone seen the interactive screens used in the movie Minority Report? That's what an interface should be.

yeah that's what I was thinking of when I said "wave hadns in air" sorta.

take that one step farther Wol... put yourself in the VR world, and such a thing becomes a reality...

...albeit, a virtual reality :)

you guys are gonna see some neat stuff in your lifetime... i envy you...

Nah, hands in the air sux. You'll get completely tired and fubar a the end of a day. Just learn more keyboard shortcuts.. hands at east and just the fingers that do the work.

Likewise speech-reckognision will such.. even if it's perfect, I'm sooo not going to talk all day long..!

Lotsa sci-fi stuff looks fun but simply isn't practical..

That's totally brilliant. That 'Google Earth Extreme' bit looks really intuitive.

A patent on a model of the Nintendo DS ... which maybe unleashed 18 months after the newer slim line unit demonstrates this tech.

You ain't THAT old, Red. :)

:)

... sometimes i feel that old.

The creative potential for something like that is mindboggling. What a way to draw 2d or model 3d
