What is the difference between all the GE 7800's?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/What is the difference between all the GE 7800's?

They've got the GeForce 7800 GTX 512, GeForce 7800 GTX, GeForce 7800 GT, and GeForce 7800 GS. What is the difference?

The GS is an AGP card... And it's significantly slower than the GTX. It's also slower than the GT. It's faster, however than a 6800 Ultra.

So there you go.

Each revision usually has a faster clock speed or more AGP memory etc. Generally GTX/XT/GT labels mean the card is faster than one without a label.

I'll be getting a PCI.

I can get an "overclocked" 7800 GT at Best Buy for $350. (256 mb RAM). I'm a little wary of a box that says "BFG technology".

they are good cards.

I wasn't aware of the AGP version!? Ah well, I'll be upgradnig to PCI-E soon....

The BFG version is great. In one review they were able to get it to out perform the GTX version as well because the components allow for massive over clocks. I think they have an unlimited lifetime warranty for it too. I have one ... it rocks.

the 7800's should be dropping in price now that the faster 7900's are out.

Halo,

when you say PCI do you mean PCI Express or just plain PCI?

IPete2.

PCI-E, I recon. lol. "I just bought a 7800! Fantastic! its PCI. not PCI-E." yeah. Buy a TNT2. :)

I have the GT OC (over clocked). Paid significantly less then the GTX. the GTX only has 50 more mhz I believe then the GT.

I love the card

I'll probably get the 7800 GT OC. I would prefer to have 512 mb texture RAM, but maybe 256 is okay.

I was the same, wanted the 512, but then, what am I going to use 512 for? Just to say I have 512? Most of the industry is built around 256 being max, and that isnt going to change just yet (with the cards being so over priced). They will want their games running on ever computer out there.

GTX has 4 more pipelines as well, but the difference isnt worth the extra money over a GT.
