Just been playing on Avon's Xbox360 and I have to say I liked it very much.
COD 2 is possibly the most frantic game ever. Beautifully smooth, long, long draw distance, great particles, constant frame rate, many many adversaries all at once - large detailed environments, wonderful sound effects hard hitting woundings (when you get hit you feel it), lots of lighting effects, gun flares, gritty action, nades throw bad guys right up into the air liovely. Its a WOW game!
Kameo - Now this is one beautiful game - hundreds of enemies, highly detailed, all with physics, all fighting, animated, running around trying to kill the good guys... the most exquisite colours I have ever seen in a game environment - fabulous lush greenery - flowers, sun flares, skies, characters - all moving, swaying, - much more so than in StarFox Adventures for the GameCube.
Tonight I saw in the region of 100-130 highly detailed enemies, 4 huge dragons swooping through the skies, a large, animated, with ground hugging shadows, a very large tank type vehicle, along with tens of goodies and Kaneo herfelf morphing into various creatures - all in the same - constant frame rate scene - where Avon was battling.
Fabulous.
Project Gotham Racing 3 - well it just looks real. The lighting and reflections make this game to look at. The physics seem really good too although I haven't played it too much. The garage where you choose the car just looks real too - the water doesnt funnily but the lighting, textures, cars etc fantastic. I saw the tv commercial and thought - Yeah right - but guess what - what you see is what you get. Its that real looking - really it is.
Also watech a demo of EA's Fight Night - and although I don't like boxing games this looks very realistic too, compared to the current older generation crop, sweat beads flying off injured boxers etc. Not my cuppa tea but very realistic looking.
Perfect Dark - hmm juries out on this one - the opening was okay but more of a training ground for control system, nothing much to write home about.
So these are just some of the launch titles and they are not even scratching the surface of what's to come I'm sure -
We also saw Need for Speed - in all fairness about average - Full Throttle - pretty rubbish - basketball - very pretty to look at.
Also saw a couple of downloaded games from the Arcade Live not too bad at all for a few quid.
Marble Blast for XBOX360 - nice looking Torque game - simple but worthy of a players attention.
So that's my initial intro to XBOX360 - just thought I'd share it with you guuys. Avon has left the machine with me tonight as he's back tomorrow for more, more, more, oh and maybe some coding!
