I'm listening to some nice retro music

Ah, I'm currently making menus for my game and listening to some classic retro C64 music I'll think you'll agree it's a classic list.



My fave C64 musician was probably Jereon Tel (Maniacs of Noise) he was/is pretty much a hero of mine.

I've got the entire Sid Archive and there are loads more classics in there, but these ones do it for me for now...ah.

You know I used to stop myself from listening to this stuff when doing my Delphi contract work because it just made me think of games and game programming and was highly distracting. Now I'm game programming full-time I can listen to it again, yay!

Fantastic stuff... I have a collection I listen to every now and again. :)

Surprised not to see Monty on the Run in there, that's a great tune, as is Parallax, and (a bit different, but still good) Firelord.

Harddrive full yet?

I met Jeroen Tell and TMC when they still lived in holland a few times during c64 parties. they had just completed their first version of their tracker software, and they had done a few small demos and commercial tunes, but nothing big yet. They were nice guys really. I haven't seen them a few years now though.
SidPlayW is still on my desktop , yeah!

Avon: I've got a monty remix as part of some mods I also listen too often. Jeroen has a couple of mods in that collection too. Parallax Song1 (Martin Galway) is weird at the start so it's not instantly get-into-able for me. Listening to firebird now ...

Genexi2: I presume you are referring to my choice to lsiten to wavs not mp3 or ogg because I'm a purist! Well I've got a 160GB HD and a 200GB HD, so no they are not full yet :-)

Wiebo: That's wicked! c64 party sigh, never went to one, but I bet it was cool. I might have to add Jereon to my list of people I want to meet before they die: So far it has William Shatner and Jackie Chan on it. Possibly Leonard Nimoy and Patrick Stewart, oooh and Arnie. That's pretty much it, except for about a million famous Chinese Kung Fu stars from the 70s.

Out of interest, what SID player do you use? I use SidPlay2.

Get DragonNinja and Daley Thompsons Olypmic Challenge sid files, these two are my favourites :)

Oh I meant to say "famous" people, but I realised I missed someone off, and I haven't got long for this one: Sensei Koichi Tohei, he was a 10th Dan student of the founder of Aikido and it's his style that my school is based on. My teacher Sensei Kolesnikov trained with him in the 70s. Originally he did a more traditional "hard" style and then "saw the light" and was totally amazed by the more Ki oriented Tohei style. Lots of people don't groove to it cos it's not smash bang whallop, but they don't realise what we are really learning ... hehe FOOLS!

when I first found HVSC I downloaded it on modem and I couldn't believe it, I thought wow this is what the Internet is really for and just listened to them for days and days.
