Can you draw?

I know at least two of you can...

I'm in the process of rebranding cloverleaf games, I've got a tonne of games due for launch soon and I want to make the logo feel more "gamey", a little simpler and a bit more eye catching.

I've settled on the font, not the color, and I want a cloverleaf (perhaps a 4 leaf) as part of the logo.

Here is my feeble attempt (1st attempt) at a cloverleaf, can you spare the time to come up with a few concepts?



I'll give a free igLoader license to the individual/company that comes up with the best one. I may also have other re-branding work for you.

NOTE: This logo will need to be original as it will be submitted to the UK patent office as a Trademark.

quite often it's picture/logo first then text. Good luck with this. Anyway, hint about the games?

I think the colour should be greener, that current one looks like an ill frog/rotten lettuce.

font's OK, what about a capital G?

Only thing with 4 leafclover is it's probably more common in advertising that a 3 leaf clover. Also the leaves are actually heart shaped on the real thing (well sorta, + it has a line down the middle of each leaf). You could perhaps stick in a stylised clover flower too?

I can't draw, but as a concept, I'd like to see a wee leprechaun on the clover leaf. For me, characters grab the imagination more than logos ever will. If you had "The CloverLeaf Leprechaun" plastered all over your site with little speech bubbles and pointing people to things, it would grab the people you're aiming for.

now that's a good, if done before, idea. Maybe the character could be a cloverleaf with friendly eyes and a smile?

How about that without the silly stem-L bit? In fact, lose the stem altogether, and just have the clover behind text.

@IndiePath - could you point me to the font you've used, as I keep having to export to bmp format for the cut'n'paste shenanigans.

I'd help but I'm rather bogged down with schoolwork. So, I shall just provide an opinion -- I definitely like Ian's work. The first one, particularly. The color of the clover in the later revisions just doesn't look as good I think.

I like the second color much better. In the first image the colors are too close together, and thus clash. With more contrast the colors complement each other better. In fact, the text shows up so much better on the clover that maybe it needs to be a repeated element, like the text over a bed of clovers.

And I like the last image best. Keeping the L normal and losing the stem works imo. As far as you needing the font, maybe if you just send him a hi-res version of the clover then he can paste it under the text himself.

I think the current logo is excellent, and perfectly suited to games with it's 4-way arrangement (almost like a d-pad). I'm not sure why you'd want to change that.

Oh yeah, I agree. I didn't know what your existing logo looks like.

I have a few ideas, but won't have any time to work on them until at least tonight, or maybe not until the weekend.

Hmmn, okay... It's good to get positive feedback on the existing one. Maybe I'll play with the font and be done with it..

I do need another logo though and this one is for a new product, based on igLoader technology, called "eXigo" - Think Content on Demand.

isn't the font on the existing logo the same as your Indiepath one (even thought it's kinda tilted about)? This is good for corporate branding, the continuity.

Nope the font on Cloverleaf is "SoopaFresh" and the Indiepath one is "Arial Bold"

fair enough then. Your corporate branding is shot to hell, I order you to change it! (well actually soopafresh is kinda like arial bold isn't it?)

A white background isnt that great, you should have a black background, or a darker colour.

@Braincell, How does that work for business cards and letter heads?

I had nothing on this morning, so I had another play. Just for the fun of it really...

I prefer the 3rd one.

Looks a bit like a radio active symbol. It occurs to me that the first 3 have a slight curve on them yet the letters are deliberately wonky. Perhaps it would look nice just keeping a nice curbe and not having wonky letters? so the viewer doesn't get an unsettling feeling, but a mellow one instead. Do I sound too hippy?

That's some nice efforts from Pongo, there. IMO, Ian's would look more at home on a packet of loo roll - no offence. Personally, I think half the problem is the name: Cloverleaf. I'm not keen on it, personally. It just doesn't seem to have any relevance or evoke a sense of fun and entertainment - like you're in for a treat.

Anyway, like I say, just my opinion.

Big Fish does sound more fun, to me. But anyway...

I actually quite like the Cloverleaf name, though when I first saw it I thought it was the same name as the guys who made the Viewtiful Joe series, CloverStudios, until I went back and checked it. =\

If you look carfully at the cloverleaf logo you will see that each leaf converges on the centre and intersects, kind of a ying-yang thing going on. It's a representation of convergence and distribution. A cloverleaf is a crossroads or a junction, it's purpose is to concentrate and disperse.

Yeah, that is deep - nicely sums-up the ethos of the brand but I wouldn't have figured that out in a month of Sundays. Maybe the cloverleaf in your logo should reflect this by having arrow heads circulating out from the centre of the leaf. Well, something like that, anyway. Something that indicates the 'flow'.

P.S. I hope I didn't offend anyone with my post - I certainly didn't mean to. It's just my personal opinion - what do I know!? :)

Indie: Hey, that logo is certainly more explanitory than a plain cloverleaf, especially with the code coming out from the IndiePath bloke in the centre.

@big10p, actually the code goes in, the games come out :D (read the binary where does it end..... assuming you read from left to right)
