Hi,
I have a few bits and bats that i was going to throw in the bin but if any wants them they are free:

512mb pc100 sdram
Geforce 2 graphics card
Athlon 900 cpu soket 7

Will only post to UK

Why on earth would you just bin this stuff, if it's working?

I'll take it.

If you wanna give away a computer, give it to charity.

I think its a nice gesture, and useful for anyone that wants to build a cheap min spec system.

Give it to your local school.

local schools are always trying to ger rid off stuff too.

Give it to your local school.

Most schools started to get pretty picky with stuff they accept too... We had a load of 17" CRT's some time back, and couldn't find any place willing to take 'em, evne for free.

I need a 17" CRT
mine wont show the color green

I can't speak for the UK, but here in the US, charities are very particular. Most charities here, including the local Salvation Army, won't accept anything under a 1Ghz system. Nor will most pawnshops in the area.

Holy cow - that pile of bin fodder is higher specced than the system I just upgraded from.

I'm on the very edge of technology... just on the wrong side of the knife.

It does raise a good point though - there's a lot of wastage in upgrading. Thanks for that link skn3[ac], I might well join my nearest group.

Salvation Army accepted a PC from me (in Australia) about 4 years ago which was a 4 Mhz XT - don't know what they'd do with it though...don't really know why I gave it away, the only software it had on it was Wordperfect 4.2 & 5.1 for DOS, DOS 3.21 and a couple of games - "Heros Quest" by Sierra and Might & Magic 2.

I've currently got a few more old PCs collecting dust which I don't think it would be fair to give away - one of which is an old 300 Mhz Celeron with TNT2 (32MB) vid card, Windows95 and no hard drives nor a working CD ROM drive - I really should just throw it away unless anyone can think of a use for it...oh and it has no network card nor sound card (anymore), nor a working keyboard (the letter 'f' is broken)...nor a working monitor...I guess really all it is is a case with a motherboard, vid card and some software that came with it on CD...and a floppy drive.

lol the cpu is faster than mine + the memory is the same :]
- gfx is worse..damn im crap :p

give me all your free stuff ;)

Yeah, that freecycle group is how I gave away my old computer. Frankly I was surprised at how many responses I got; the thing was ancient (500MHz!) and this was only last spring. Someone from a local music education organization responded first, so I gave it to them.
