Phone recording software question

I've recently begun having problems with tele marketers, apparently I am on some suckers list.

I would like to buy phone recording software, but I really have no idea what I'm looking for.

I need very basic functionality:
-auto recording of all ingoing and outgoing calls
-caller ID
-simultaneous record and play(playing one conversation in the course of another)
-webinterface, so the recording software can run 24/7 on a small server and be accessed through my network.
-compatible with ordinary PCI voice modems.

The server will be a small mini-itx pc.

well what I do with telemarketers is use an Arnold Schwarzenneger soundboard
I use Messer audio recorder,

Then I get a speakerphone and use a PC mic to record both sides of the conversation.
Then I use the PC speakers to emit arnies voice.

They dont call back for at least 6 months,

Nothing, but I want the conversations on media. I have received threats and these people maintain that they have me on tape making a deal with them.

Of course they don't, but instead of them trying to pressure me because they think I may cave in, i'd like to end the situation immediately by proving to them on the phone that I record every conversation, so that they won't waste any time on me, meaning that I won't have to waste my time on them.

It could also be useful in other circumstances, but that's not a concern right now.

sounds crappy. In the U.K. you can apply for free to an organisation that prevent telemarketing calls. They do this cos every legit company has to check your number with a "don't call" list.

I used to get them phone calls a lot... Now whenever one calls, I get talking to them as if there my best mate, half way through I change my tune and say that I know where they live and I'm going to go to there house in the middle of the night and wake them up by slapping my flacid member in their faces! :)

They stop calling after that!

I've registered with them and have not received a single call since.

Keep in mind though, it is illegal to record phone conversations without letting the other party know that the call is recorded... Hence the standard 'your call may be recorded/monitored for quality assurance purposes' notice you get when calling most large companies.

Without the recording notice, your 'proof' on tape may well be dismissed if you would want to take a dispute to court or something.

Andy: British Telecom's advice on nuisance calls includes a few tips that I employ all the time.

1) When answering a call, pick up the handset and remain silent until the other party speaks. This may seem rude when friends call, but it is good way of maintaining the upper hand with pranksters.

2) As soon as you identify a prank call, stop speaking immediately and just replace the handset.


I know that your first instinct is to want to be able to hit back against someone who is annoying you. I feel the same way. However, if you totally ignore these people and do not respond to them in any way, they will stop calling.

If you do continue to receive calls (because the prankster is a loony) then make a note of the exact time of the call and notify your telephone company. You may want to think about changing your phone number. Sure, this may cost you and inconvenience you but it will stop the calls.

Again, just don't respond to the calls. It's hard to do, but it will help you and usually works very quickly.

No, it may be illegal in YOUR COUNTRY, but it is perfectly legal in my country.

I don't know where you get the idea that I want to 'hit back' against someone. That's not what I wrote in my previous posts.

Perhaps you didn't read my first post. Apparently I have been put on a 'suckers list', meaning that I will possibly be dealing with hundreds of DIFFERENT companies calling me throughout the next year.

I used to, but then they started a claims process. I wish to stop the situation as fast as possible, hence the need to prove that I am recording calls.

I appreciate the time you all are spending on these replies, but could you recommend some software for my specific purpose?

After scouring the net, I found this.

I haven't tried it yet as I need further hardware and cables, but it seems to do the trick, according to the website atleast.

If I get it up and running, I'll post my experience here.
