... Project?

any new developments on the engine. i just downloaded the demo, but it asked me for some dx dll i didn't have, so i'll play with it later...

a sample bit of code to get people started would be a great part of the demo deployment... i looked around but didn't see anything that looked like a Hello World source or anything, either for c++, or BMax...

this looks pretty decent, if we can code it with 'max or c++...

You can use dlls in Delphi (pascal), too. ^^

I posted an example with normal maps on the coldsteel forums, made in blitz3d, but media and exe and dll is included. I think it could work with the demo, but maybe the normalmap function isn't there.

It's being worked on quite a lot, and Jedive keeps adding features. Updates are fairly frequent. I only wish Mark was as fast. Very soon CS may be a very good product. It already is, but it lacks just a few functions and examples in documentation. I'll be making some examples on the CS forum when i get time.

Also i managed to get some shaders going in there so when i get time i'll post examples about how to use them.

It's as easy as blitz3d btw.

that sounds great Lenn... i'll be looking...

thx...

there's only one problem, almost all of the demos give me an error like "cannot find d3d_dx9.dll".

That would most likely be because you don't have DX9.

"I only wish Mark was as fast"

i dont think that can be said as coldsteel uses irrlich (sp)

Irrlicht, ODE, and AngelScript. Most of the work that Jedive did can be assumed to be putting it together to make it work and writing tools (not that that isn't hard work -- I promise that it is; probably harder than most of the work while writing an engine).

@Devious
Yeah, cant really compare cos he isnt making the engine himself but still the work he has he seems to do fairly quick. But in truth, any slower and i'd be completely uninterested :P I still beleive CS will be at a very usable level much before max3d and i dont think it will lag behind in features. Irrlicht is very good by now, and still improving.

That would most likely be because you don't have DX9.

quit spewing bull@#!*. i've had dx9 forever. how would i be able to play far cry with all the settings on highh without dx9?

they've released several versions of dx9c alone... that may account for the problems... i got the same error msg... but didn't have time to play around with it today...

you probably just need the dll in the path or somewhere the app can 'see' it...

Did I insult you? Sheesh. That's what you get for trying to help people these days.

I just have the latest dx9 dll in my system32. Never had such problems.

You can have DirectX9 and still get a dll problem. In that case you might have an older version of the runtime and thus, you need to get the latest from the MS website. Its still called DirectX9 but it has a more up-to-date runtime. This is usually because the creator has used the latest SDK for developing his DirectX app.

There's half a dozen different version of DirectX 9.0c, each of which is using a different DLL name.

I wonder what they were smoking at MS when they thought that one up.
