Max3D - Access to beta?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Max3D - Access to beta?

When blitzMax was released people who purchased the Mac version when there was no Win version got access to the Win Beta.

Is there a possibility of paying for Max3D now to get access to the beta, if there is one that is?

Also, to calm people down from badgering about Off-Topic, can anyone in the know give us some Max3D news? Is Max3D half finnished? Is it progressing well?

On a side note, will B3D's docs be updated to comply with the current version?

i can give you all the information about BMax3D that you want to know... but Mark asked me not to... so, until he says it's ok... i can't even post any screenshots that i may... or may not have...

btw... i'm talking about Mark Jones, the guy who lives up the block from me... he was the one who asked me not to....

:)

sorry A... don't kill me...

Tease.

I recon you'd have more luck trying to get next weeks winning lottery numbers ! ;)

I knew it was a long shot.

Now where's the BMax3D info!!!!???!!!!

6 14 15 21 28 33

I bet you win. :)

same problem here. We need a cross platform solution with fairly limited 3D engine requirements, and have a Blitz3D prototype, but need to be able to get it onto other platforms.

Any early adopters/beta would be most welcome. So far we have been lucky that the client is still working out some things with investors, but were expecting to hear more soon.

So any news would be more than welcome.

When blitzMax was released people who purchased the Mac version when there was no Win version got access to the Win Beta.

Only because we got @#!*ed off and gave Mark a whipping for not releasing them all.

Maybe we should get @#!*ed off again?

Free max3d for b3d owners? (like the maxgui-deal for b+ owners) ^_^

An upgrade path maybe but I highly doubt that Max3D will be free for existing B3D owners.

Well it should. I would buy BlitzMax if I got Max3D free. But it's doubtful. It makes sense, but then again, too good to be true...

I want Bmax to be good and priced competitively. But I'd also like to see a early adopters version its actually useable. So that Bmax owners can learn it and give it a thorough workout.

I'd be happy to pay $150 for something decent. At some point I have a choice between Bmax 3d and Torque shader engine.

Max3d does not exist, don't you see that they are trying to forget all abou it, soon they will have rules that anyone who mentions Max3d is taken by men in black and put away for good. Soon noone will remeber what Max3d was about nor that it was supposed to be released half year ago...

seems very poor that they haven't even mentioned it for a looooong time
I sure there are reasons for this, but people can't/wait forever, so its just its commercial suicide IMHO not to at least post something , just to keep the masses happy until it is released.

I for one would be happy to buy 3 copies if it was released next wednesday with the 3d module.

Mark said that he is not going to release a Max3d beta but only tech demos and such.I hope we hear something soon...

...I'd rather see something ;)

Maybe we should get @#!*ed off again?

It wasn't fair last time, It wouldn't be fair this time.

I do hope Mark has something for us, Ive grown into Bmax recently and with a 3D engine it'd be perfect for the above mentioned project- a fast development path with a great, up-to-date 3D engine- (hopefully minus the surface count issues ;) )

Time is becoming scarse for us!

seems very poor that they haven't even mentioned it for a looooong time
I guess time really does dialate as the speed of light is approached.

Heheh, still not learned that constantly asking about Max3D won't make it arrive any faster? :)

>Heheh, still not learned that constantly asking about Max3D won't make it arrive any faster? :)

I' am sorry but I think you are wrong. I think it does matter and if whole community went together and pressed BR to make some news about it, they would feel pressed to release some news about Max3d. They can't ignore us for a so long time not releasing any news.

I like BR but I wish that Mark was releasing more info and it's our right to ask for more info about Max3d like it or not.

I think that we should (out of passion and interest for product like Max3D) repeat this thread every week untill we hear some news.

It could be that BR has focused on wrong product and is not paying Max3D any attention for long time and in that case whole community must let them know they want Max3d.

If noone said anything about Max3D BR may think that interest is low and not focus on it at all. If everyone just screamed and demaned Max3d they would for sure focus on it and have the product out already.

Mark you have too many balls in the air, plz drop few and keep Max3d development in focus. I'd like you to bring us the tech of tommorow TODAY and not tommorow when there are 100's of choices to choose from and on every corner there is Max3d like 3d engine perhaps even easier to start with and lots more options etc.

You are in unique position to bring it out TODAY so please take that chance and don't wait too long.

I'm as impatient as most people (only because I want to see how Max2D will be affected) but Mark does things a certain way.
In contrast, there was a bit of a bust-up at CW on the Cobra threads as GrahamK was trying to do it the 'loadsa info' way and found it brought it's own problems.
IMO it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation for the developers.
(... so they might as well 'do' :)

yeah, grahamk was being really whinny and he showed crap screenshots so i left cw for good.

Its more like how much the devs want to give to the community. Because they can write stuff with lots of info and then its only about sustaining the pressure. Mark chooses the easy cheap way out and doesnt want to work under any pressure. He chooses that benefit over the risk of loosing customers so it's really up to him and how much BRL wants to earn in terms of revenue. Its a clear case of where amount of work directly equals amount of pay. BTW the cobra thread got bad because of one or two idiots, and it didnt contain much info in the first place only that everyone could ask the same questions over and over and be replied, doesnt mean grahamk gave useful info. But cobra does give an impression of being at a more advanced stage than max3d.

I would be happy if mark posted some seemingly irrelevant info every week such as

"10/05/2008: Worked on passing more than TEXCOORD1 to shader. compared results with fxc.exe. You dont know what the heck i just said? I dont give a [beep] at least i gave you an update."

Sorry to say but i have found alternatives to max3d because i need them. On the other hand i dont see people here being technical enough to even know how to use and handle the dx9 technology (primarily shaders) and even less do i see people making 3d art that would look better had they have dx9 at their disposal. So seriously, i dont think most of you need it for a useful purpose, you just want to mess with it. I'm talking in relation to blitz3d projects, there have only been a few half-serious ones and most incomplete. My point is, as far as the existing community is concerned i dont really see the reasons for their whining. I do think however that Max3D will create a new community with new people who may work on more serious projects.

bla

I think i'm kind of outgrowing the whole blitz community when i see comments like those of skyfire or red october. It's definitely time for me to move on. What am i doing wasting my time reading useless stuff like this? I dont know i must be fairly stupid, not breaking a habbit or summten...

This thread reminds me of threads before BlitzMax was released!!!

Everyone thought it was vapourware, and smack... bang... wallop!!! It arrived! (Though, not in a blaze of glory :) )

Rough quote from Mark a very long time ago:-

'It takes a while to create a new programming language'

Or something along them lines, which is very true!!! :)

I reckon we should let BR breathe, and let them do what they've got to do, because at the end of the day, they know they cannot sell a game programming targeted language without 3D!

And if they released a early, bug-ridden module because everyone was kicking up a fuss, they are in a no-win situation, because everyone will kick up a fuss because it's knackered!!!

Makes sense!

And as programmers, we should have the patience of saints anyway!!! ;)

Dabz

The lack of information doesn't make sense. And thats what I want most of all. I don't give a monkeys about next gen features. I'm mostly interested in rendering optimizations, and a few missing DX7 features plus cross platform portability.

Shaders are pretty low down on my list of requirements, and would mostly be used as an alternative to current tech which requires extra steps and trickyness to get the same results.

I think i'm kind of outgrowing the whole blitz community when i see comments like those of skyfire or red october.
noones forcing you to stay Lenn...

if you think that just because other people disagree with you, it's time to leave... well, that definitely gives some insight to what type of personality your are...

good luck in finding a community that agrees with everything you think and say... this question has been asked many times before... many, many times before... what do you expect the responses to it would be...

get a grip, would ya... isn't it obvious that we all wanna see the3D module... or at least get some news about it...

hey, for those who are staying... maybe taking a look at the 3D engine Thierry has written might be a viable alternative until we get something from the company... from what i've seen, it is very Blitz like, with Entities and Children... and is BlitzMax programmable...

--Mike

Mark, send me the Max3D beta! I have both a PC and a Mac; pretty please!

No not because of disagreeing but because of general stupidity and display of boredom (latter more relating to you). Like that guy said "doesnt like the screenshots".

I didnt use an insult (word stupid) in a long time, so there ya go, its just im having a very very boring frustrating day.

Only thing that would intrest me in max is direct opengl control since i'm managing to learn it but it isnt good enough. brb

Dont know who ever made anyone think i "need" a community? I may need to as a question but some people here seem to understand it like it's socialising. lol ignore me im talking out of my ar$e again, i dont mean to...

I think we should (out of passion and interest for product like Max3D) repeat this thread every week until we hear some news

I'm all for that -- seems like it would be a significant decrease compared to the current number of threads that keep popping up on this exact same subject.

It could be that BR has focused on wrong product and is not paying Max3D any attention for long time and in that case whole community must let them know they want Max3d.

Excuse me? While Max3D is highly anticipated by many people, there is also a significant number of people who couldn't care less if it ever gets released. 'the whole community' will never 'demand' BRL to drop everything they are doing and work on Max3D until it is done, since many of us prefer they would focus on bugfixes, Max2D, MaxGUI or networking stuff instead. It's all been said before: It will be done when it's done. Crying about it won't make a difference. Yes, BRL knows that plenty of people want to buy Max3D yesterday. That's not going to make it come out any faster. It's a lose-lose situation: either they finish dotting the i's and crossing all the t's and releases a top-notch product, and people will whine its taking to long. They can also release it before it is truly ready, and people will whine that it's a substandard piece of #!@$@#. No matter how you turn it, there's always people whining about what BRL does...
the only thing they really CAN do is do their thing, and put up with/ignore the noise, since it's going to be there regardless.

Also, if the previous hundred threads about the exact same subject didn't change anything, why do you think this one would be any different?

I propose people would just put a sock in it for a while, stop starting these incessant threads, and just wait. It's not like BRL will be sitting in their secret mountain headquarters scheming how the hold the world hostage -- I'm sure they want it to be done & shipped just as much as you do, if not more.

Don't forget that there are other very important developments they have to be on top on as well, such as Apple switching to Intel and all the work that brings along with it.

maybe taking a look at the 3D engine Thierry has written might be a viable alternative until we get something from the company

link?

He can also release it before its truly ready

No thanks, I can already buy DB.

I have the filling that all the threads about Max3D and Max2D are killing their luck to get some inside information as soon as ironic and out of point posts make their entry.

I'd like to see Thierry's engine too. It's unfortunate, but I don't see how you can have a 3D engine before Bmax is finished. My biggest concern is that Bmax will be yet another hobby engine too little too late and requiring another couple of years for third parties to get the art path tools sorted out.

Just like it was with Blitz3D.

it's called Eliza 3D...

look here--> http://www.tmyke.fr/index.htm

it's DirectX so no OSX... how many are really interested in using this...

--Mike

Oh, well then not me. For me at least, the whole point of Max3D is running on both Windows and Macs.

I have found that a good substitute for BMax 3D (Max3D - whatever) is bacon.

I have been working my way through half a kilo of bacon today and I feel quite content - the thought of BMax 3D is a distant concern. Plus, it was buy one, get one free.

yeah... i agree on that... would be nice to have cross platform... but this seems to be the best i've seen so far...

--Mike

Those that couldn't code better themselves should display a directly proportional level of patience with regard to the release of software, however eagerly awaited said piece of software may be.

Until we see a release, I imagine that our comments on the subject will be given all the consideration they duly deserve.

**EDIT** I do indeed consider my own place in this, a fairly low part of the coder's gene pool (thus far).

>Don't forget that there are other very important developments they have to be on top on as well, such as Apple switching to Intel and all the work that brings along with it.

well that is focus on the wrong thing, I don't care about Macs and Apples and I don't want this as much as you don't care about Max3d ;)

As I said Mark has too many balls in the air, Max3d will never be out unless they hire some more personal in BR. They could atleast consider taking in some interns to do some work and help them out, expand a team by 1-2 talented persons.

>Excuse me?

No problems, I excuse you since you ask so nicely and also I ask you to excuse me and the others as we wine from time to time until the day Max3d is either released or some damn information is shared with rest of us wanting to hear/know more about Max3d. We'll not stop until Mark gives us some attention. Come on Mark, read this thread! :)

Yeh, so everyone just chill and buy some bacon.

I would just like to tip a gentlemanly hat to Braincell for supplying us with the 'fka Lenn' info. This shows good etiquette and should be considered standard practice when changing one's nik on the forum.

God Save the King! (Bless 'is 'eart!)

I'd rather discourage nick changing with my new powers to ban ALL OF YOU if you so much as change your nick - or, I can just change it back myself.

Bacon - it's Large

I reckon we should let BR breathe, and let them do what they've got to do

I agree. While I'm very anxious to start using Max3D, I think it's best to just be patient and wait for a proper (non-buggy) release.

Also, procrastinating is only going to make it seem EVEN longer than it actually is. The irony is, when it actually comes out most of you won't ever finish a game in it anyway.

As enjoyable as I find it reading though these whining topics I feel you should follow puki's advice and buy some bacon, at least then you'll be doing something useful and practical. Bacon is tasty too.

I feel like this is usually the point where I will say something but... I just opened my mouth and nothing came out. I think after the 100s of threads in this vein, there's really not anything more to say.

The weird part is how it's the community regulars that are doing it now; it's not like it's being brought up by newbs who don't know any better - it's actually grown ups who have been here for probably as long as I have who are whining like babies. Still, each to their own and all that, but I mean... don't you people ever get tired?!?

[edit] Removed Flame Bait.

Wonder if I can hire Mark as a contractor to help me on my project for a couple of weeks?

I'm not Joking either.

We should all chip in and pay mark to do an idiots guide tutorial on how to write a B3D exporter in C++. I say this because I've seen many people try and write a loader/exporter but fail when it comes to getting animation working.

what I want is a way to load in left handed B3D models into right handed Bmax GL engines correctly, With the local rotations being oriented correctly.

So far no one seems to have gotten that part right, or are using right handed geometry formats.

Did you get my mail?

I like BR but I wish that Mark was releasing more info and it's our right to ask for more info about Max3d like it or not.
That's right, I forgot about article 31 in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. "You may constantly ask BRL for Max3D info, particularly if a previous enquiry was not answered to your satisfaction."

You don't have any rights. You have privileges.

Also, procrastinating is only going to make it seem EVEN longer than it actually is. The irony is, when it actually comes out most of you won't ever finish a game in it anyway.
Well the irony is that you don't see Mark and Simon posting twice a week about where all the good games are at. If the showcase was bursting with cool games that had pressed Blitz3D to the limit, I could understand some peoples arguement of a NEED for Max3D. Saying you need it proves nothing.

Wonder if I can hire Mark as a contractor to help me on my project for a couple of weeks?
I'm sure Mark not being able to work on Max3D for a couple of weeks is going to go down real well with all the whiners. :o>

The thing that amazes me is that people know BlitzMax is 3Dless when they buy it! And if you need 3D, why buy a 3Dless language?

The words 'not very bright' spring to mind! :)

Dabz

I recon you'd have more luck trying to get next weeks winning lottery numbers ! ;)

http://www.powerball.com/powerball/pb_numbers.asp
currently: $365 million

>You don't have any rights. You have privileges.

Ohh shutup FlameDuck you and your lawyer like responses :)

>And if you need 3D, why buy a 3Dless language
Many bought BlitzMax to SUPPORT BR. I did and I haven't even used it since I bought it, I have no need for just BlitzMax on it's own but yeah I bought the thing as I said to support BR.

I will only start to use it if/when it has 3D ;)

Thanks for the email Jeremy. Somehow I missed it.

Many people bought Bmax expecting a 3D module within 6 months, and like Maximo, figured BRL was worth supporting.

I havent used it yet, well not since a fairr number of simple commands I needed were missing at the time.

I too haven't used Bmax since i bought it- well, since I made that Pole Position code.

Just recently, maybe a week or two back, I started using it again just to keep myself on track, since I've not actually programmed anything for a couple of months.

I'm surprised, its useful, but I don't actually have a real use for it until 3D is in.

Right, I think I'll have a few rashers of bacon for breakfast.

> The weird part is how it's the community
> regulars that are doing it now;

Well, time wasting regulars are just as bad, if not worse than time wasting noobs.

> I could understand some peoples arguement of a NEED
> for Max3D. Saying you need it proves nothing.

Yeah, I don't see anyone with their completed gameplan, 3D gfx and meshes just waiting to transversed into Bmax3D when it arrives.
Infact most people I doubt even know what they're even gonna make in 3D, or even what sort of genre of game they're gonna make, or even if they've even made a 2D game before.
The funny thing is though when Max3D is finished, like Blitz3D it won't support all the features from the start, so then we're gonna have even more moaning to look forward too. Just like all the 'when is Blitz3D gonna supper DX8 features' type questions when BMax didn't exist. I love it when people go on about shaders but rarely even have a 3D mesh to put it on. Spheres and cubes don't even count.

It's funny because it's true. :D

Call me evil, but I'm looking forward to the next generation of whining, and I shall be there if I can to soak up the atmos.

> Right, I think I'll have a few rashers
> of bacon for breakfast.

Good on ya Puki!

I have an idea. A realistic comercially viable idea for BRL. How about if we pre-purchase max. We pay the full price now in exchange for a solid release date. If 50 of us agree to do it, perhaps $5000 will be enough for Mark to consider a beta or a date or something. If not 50 maybe 100 of us? Would he do it? I know i'll never get a reply but its an idea.

*nod to BlackJumper* I agree, it should be standard practice.

@Enay, agreed with what you say, exactly what i mean. Its people hobbies rather than useful commercial 3d stuff. For me tho, i'm seriously making models and i need shaders for my realtime portfolios, and im sure theres a few others that don't participate in the "community" that also do.

>50

I'm sure we are much larger number then that, many are not speaking or posting as someone said, BIG number of blitz users don't ever post, either to shy or just don't think they have anything interesting to add.

I'd guess round 250 and more to follow if Mark wanted this :)

I like that idea!

I don't see how paying Mark in advance will help speed development of it. He is only two people.

Mmm, I'm out of bacon - I have consumed half a kilo since yesterday and I want more.

How 'bout sausage?

Well if someone wants to start a petition or vote or some sort of count on how many people would want to pre-purchase that could be a useful tool in convincing BRL. Would anyone wish to speak about the idea from BRL?

I mean getting $1000s just for releasing a beta (or at least biweekly updates) and coping with the comments is more than most people earn?

Max 3D is Vapor Ware.

I'll sell you a date for $5000... How about April 1st???

I'll start a petition if more people voice them self in this thread first. If you are interested just leave a note here and we'll start this ;)

Wow! There's going to be a 3D module for Max? Well that's something nice to look forward too. Anyway, I'm back to my coding.

Imagine the moaning if people actually pre-pay and a release date won't be met...

At least right now the moaners get what they payed for, i.e. nothing yet.

How about if we pre-purchase max. We pay the full price now in exchange for a solid release date.
Okay, let me see if I can explain this whole thing to you.

First off we're going to go with the expert testimony of Mr. Frederik P Brooks, who in one of his many essays, while working on IBM Mainframes, wrote that "writting a compiler is at least three times as difficult as writting an application". The difficulty aspect is ofcourse one of complexity.

Now for any large application (like Half-life 2) which is 3 times easier to write than Max3D, they missed their release date estimate by at least a year. And then another 8 months. Some large applications miss theirs by much more (to the point of them being used as the punchline in a joke). Now remember that this is for a project, that is significantly easier to predict a release date for than a compiler.

Imagine the moaning if people actually pre-pay and a release date won't be met...
Well ofcourse the release date could just be a rediculously long time in the future. Like 10th October 2010. They've already paid upfront, so what should anyone care if they chose to buy something else in the mean time.

In an extreme case of "don't ever pull this @#!* again" these people should not be allowed to purchase the Max 3D module until after that date.

If you want to discuss venture capital for BRL you're going to need alot more than 5K.

Heh yea, it was just a thought :)
(for once flameducks post didnt annoy me, congrats)

@Dabz, learn directx, too right i could, or at least something like OGRE maybe its easier. But the hobby people are my main concern you see, i'm soo worried about them not having hobbies that i have to post stupid crap like that and beat a dead horse just once more before i stop posting! haha... *slaps himself* back to work lazy git

Somebody get me a God damn wheelchair!

Can we lock this thread now? It's probably @#!*ing of Skidracer.

I think since Mark's been working very hard recently and should be allowed to have a month or two off (or 6).

Who's with me? :)

I would like to see a Max3d overview for a starter.
Because now with all hype about it.

mark just said he took some time off enay in his worklog

First off we're going to go with the expert testimony of Mr. Frederik P Brooks, who in one of his many essays, while working on IBM Mainframes, wrote that "writting a compiler is at least three times as difficult as writting an application".
Great, but Max3D isn't a compiler. ;)

Writting a new language is'nt easy, a few months ago, I had a pop at doing a BASIC one...

http://www.blitzbasic.com/codearcs/codearcs.php?code=1542

I nearly lost my hair writting it! :D

Dabz

Great, but Max3D isn't a compiler. ;)

Modifying and writing new code for the compiler may be needed though to get Max3D working.

I'm looking forward to seeing a 3D module for BMax.
Not really in any hurry at the mo though as i'm too busy with a project in B3D, (iv'e hardly touched BMax since i bought it) and probably won't until some decent 3D solution is in there...

IMHO, you have to be fair... Blitz Research is a small team, there is only how many? two people working full time on all of their products, that's pretty amazing stuff considering the quality and complexity of them really :)

(I'm cross-posting because I'm an evil man.)

Can we get at DirectX API calls from BlitzMax? If so, the community should be able to write their own Direct3D module based off the design of Blitz3D's API. Would this be possible?

> Not really in any hurry at the mo though
> as i'm too busy with a project in B3D

(Round of applause)

You see you should take after Opcode, he wants BMax 3D but he's actually getting on with something in the meantime.

> two people working full time on all of their
> products, that's pretty amazing stuff
> considering the quality and complexity of them
> really :)

Finally! Someone has some common sense :)
I agree, the work of two people is pretty incredible really.

Yes, theoretically.

I am going to scream and scream and scream until I am sick unless tells us what is gong on with the 3d stuff.
I want to play with it for half an hour, make some pretty 3d objects then start moaning again. ie when is the update due and where is the exporter?

Have any one thought the ramurs about silicon graphics and OpenGL. The incoming big hit from microsoft with the name Vista and directX 10..
Is it posible for a company like BRL to get a look inside the next DirectX.
Have you thought that the basic stracture maybe is ready but it cannot be published or that it get changes evry day as DirectX it's not ready?
Or all this months evryone wands a DirectX9 engine?
Do you know the ramurs about the new directX that have one basic strategy to stop the development of OpenGL?
Is it posible for any company in this world to get in this war?
NO
They just have to wait. To see what is going to hapen.
If you wand to blame someone blame Microsoft.
I thing it's the right time to move to linux and OpenGL.
I hope we will get a cutted DirectX vertion and a full suport OpenGL.

who wants to blame anyone... yeah, most of us heard about Vista and dx10...

so what... i mean, what's the point Haramani... do you really expect that Mark would write an engine directly linked to the underlying OS rendering calls... or do you think that there lies some abstraction layer insulating the engine from the renderer...

do you also think that as soon as dx10 debuts, there are gonna immediately follow a whole bunch of dx10 apps... it's gonna take a lil time for that to happen, and in the interim, dx9 games aint just gonna dissapear...

the assertion that they have to wait, thus meaning we have to wait a lot longer... well, i just don't buy this H...

sorrry man... there's got to be some other reason...

--Mike

> I am going to scream and scream and scream until

Wow, really? Do you have a webcam? If so then tell me when you're about go to mental as I'd like to watch you.

thats just plain disturbing ENAY. I would n't be dressed as 'violet elizabeth bott' neither

seriously though, I would n't mind if it did n't get released for a year as long as we had a bit of news now and then
there is not one contribution from BR in this thread
I reckon they are freeze dried , hanging in a cave somewhere under the desert until marks wakes the up

BRL could at least post in this thread, tell us to shutup, and say that Max3D will be released when it's released. :)

It's a bit like that film I watched when Michaelangelo was painting the Sistine Chapell and the priest would say to him "When will you make an end?", and Michaelangelo would reply "When I'm finnished". :)

So, Blitz Research, When will you make an end? :)

Wow, really? Do you have a webcam? If so then tell me when you're about go to mental as I'd like to watch you.

:D

My belly hurts with laughing at that... Seriously, the thought of someone getting kicks out of watching someone going mental just tickled the life outta me.......

... I cannot drink my coffee now! :D

Dabz

I feel cheap and abused:)

there is not one contribution from BR in this thread
To be fair though, it's really the kind of thread that would entice a BRL insider to post in.

BRL could at least post in this thread, tell us to shutup, and say that Max3D will be released when it's released. :)
If there was the slightest chance it would actually work, they'd jump on it in half a minute. I think Mark has repeatedly said it would be finished when it's finished (except for that time when he somewhat optimisticly said 6 months).

To be fair though, it's really the kind of thread that would entice a BRL insider to post in.

Since you seem to know what kind of a thread would entice a BRL insider to post in, would you care to start one?

I think this thread is burning my modem up!

We're not getting very far here, and I've noticed a couple of threads disappering or being locked, so the mods have been about and they couldnt of possibly missed it!

It's obvious some of the community isnt happy at the mo', and there's nothing we can do... so let's just let BR get on with their game plan, and whoever wants Max3D will just have to eat bacon while they wait!

I do recall the same problem arising with Maplet... I was one of the people who bought it, and now it's free!!! Though, I'm not fussed, because I firmly believe that eating puki's bacon will bring me happiness beyond my wildest dreams!

Sod it, I'm off to bed... Night night all! :)

I don't think he's that way inclined though.

I'm actually Blitz Research's unofficial spokeman and I have this to say, SHUT UP, SHUT UP, SHUUUT UUUUPPPP!

Happy now? :)

Well, I bought another half kilo of bacon.

Forgot to mention it earlier - it's just I find the bacon so interesting.

Why, does puki not share prime cuts of oink! Shame, I've just got up and I fancy a bacon sandwich! :)

Hi all,

Max3D is coming along, but is at kind of a strange point at the moment.

I know how to do all the neato stuff I want to do, but am struggling a bit with how to present it all as a dead cool, multi purpose game engine API. I'm confident it'll happen, but it will require some serious 'quiet time' on my part.

I do plan on releasing little demos here and there as devlopment progresses (and a public 'beta test' of sorts is not completely out of the question), but really, it's still too early to be thinking about this stuff at all.

Cheers Mark...

Everyone happy now!!! :)

Well thanks for update Mark :) Plz tell us some news from time to time :)

In other words, folks, Mark knows how to play with his toys, but forgot how to clean them up ;)

thanks for replying at least mark.
must say I am tad disappointed that it still seems to be a long way away, but i am more of a blitz hobbyist, so I can wait.
I suppose you do realise that if you released the beta and bmax together, you would get loads of people suddenly buying it and ...

Here's a suggestion - pay me and have some say in how my engine works before I declare it 'solid' and make no major design changes. You don't get that kind of option with BRL.

you should really be in bed noel, it's late and you are under 18 years, damn we should get politicians to make it law that kids are in bed after 20.00 ;)

I've always prefered the garagegames way of working with early adopter versions of their stuff at reduced price which will become a full version when it is out.

This way bugs are found in real situations and can be fixed before too much depends on the code that might to be trashed afterwards.
BM itself would have been a far more stable product on release if BRL did use this practise as well. While their "small test group" seems to be a good thing for keeping NDA, its definitely a very bad thing for a bugfree and solid product as BM as well as the GUI have shown.
