Who are the mods here?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Who are the mods here?

This is the fifth post I have had deleted today. Where is there a list of the people here who are mods? I want to know who to complain to about this.

Poor "sswifty" - I understand your problem.

It is not me doing it.

"Harrison" has been a bit shifty recently though.

Did I say that out loud?

Well, There's Shagwanna, Rob Farley, JFK, Skidracer, Simonh and a forum bot called FlameDuck.

No, I don't know who's deleting your topics. Was it the paperboy one? Well, I guess it was a rather tenous link to games. Once it's been deleted once, posting it again is unlikely to change the moderator's mind.

Does it really matter?

JFK, he was the one I think who told me that the other posts were not showing up in the special mod forum like they're supposed to.

Have any of my posts appeared there since then JFK?

i'm a mod.

edit: i'm kidding.

Yes it matters.

One post by itself doesn't matter, but I'm going not going to continue posting stuff in general discussion if I have no way to predict what will be deleted and what won't. It really ticks me off when people censor what I write and prevent me from chatting with my online friends.

Imagine if you were at a pub, and chatting with your buddies, abd every time you strayed from the topic of women, sports, or politics, someone blew an air horn and prevented any further discussion of the topic. That would make it pretty difficult to get to know the people you're interacting with, and pretty soon you'd probably stop going to that pub because even if you try to avoid triggering the air horn, a few of the people who have control of it are a bit overzealous and you can never quite predict if they'll decide a topic is forbidden. If you had to put up with that, wouldn't you just find another pub to hang out at, where more people hang out and can chat about whatever they like because it's not run like some totalitarian dictatorship?

Having rules is okay, if they are loosely and reasonably enforced, but this is going overboard, and refusing to explain why a topic has been forbidden, and hiding the mod who did the deletion to protect his identity, is just completely unreasonable.

seriously, for some reason, the mods seem to be holding some grudge against me. almost ever post that i've made has been deleted.

Maybe I should just keep posting the Paperboy topic until the mod that is deleting it gives up, or I get banned, and I find out who was doing it.

Either way I win.

Yeah show yourselves you cowards :D

Well, that would be naughty - why not stick it over 'you know where'?

Personally, I am in favour of Off Topic - even if it is a private forum and funded separate to the rest of the site.

Imagine if you were at a pub

We no longer have the 'pub' forum, or off-topic as it used to be known.

Sorry if that annoys you, but why not just use another forum for off-topic chat? I use rllmukforum.com, and just come here to discuss Blitz and computer stuff.

Off-topic only used to be frequented by a tiny percentage of Blitz users anyway. It does not affect the majority of users.

Puki:
It's not about the post now. It's about a mod deleting it when it was on topic, deleting it in a way which keeps his identity secret, and if it was off topic, about not explaining clearly enough what is and isn't allowed to be posted.

It's also about ruining this community. I used to chat with you guys about the differences between the countries you lived in, and my own. And show you the funny things I found in a particular week. Getting to know you made me want to assist you when you had a problem in Blitz, and I'm sure it worked both ways.

Over half the people on the forums now, I don't know. And if they're not getting help, I'm not exactly rushing to their aid anymore. Most of the time now, I just leave such posts for someone else to answer. Why should I care if they get help? I don't know them. In fact, if I were a spiteful person, I might even purpousefully choose not to assist people just to spite the mods that made it impossible for me to chat with my online friends.

wait a second, amon is back. amon, what blitz product(s) did you buy this time?

"Off-topic only used to be frequented by a tiny percentage of Blitz users anyway. It does not affect the majority of users."

Yes it does. Those users who posted there often, like myself, were like unpaid support people who were avilable 24 hours. By removing those chat forums, the reason for us to hang around here 24 hours a day helping people went away too. Even if those other people didn't frequent the forum, and I find that hard to believe that... You probably only counted who was actually posting... The removal of the forum DID have an effect on the other users of the site. Instead of spending 90% of my free time here, I now spend it on sites like Fark.com where I can actually TALK to people and joke about whatever I want.

Why not go to another forum for off topic discussion? If I did, why should I come back here at all? Why should I post to the code archives here at all? I don't want to browse six different forums. I hadly ever even went to BlitzCoder when it was in its prime.

If you're so sure that Offtopic was only used by a small percentage of people, then maybe I should set up a poll and find out how many people really want it back, cause I think you pulled those numbers from where the sun don't shine.

I agree with sswift, some of the moderation also seems vindictive and over-zealous at times.

It's beginning to damage this community, even a blind man could see that.

The facts are the forum hasn't got any less busy since off-topic was removed, and Blitz isn't doing any worse.

I think you pulled those numbers from where the sun don't shine.

No. The majority of Blitz users don't even post once. Let alone post in off-topic.

And when I say a tiny minority, I mean the people who would post in off-topic on a regular basis. I could name most of them now - you, Noel, Puki, FlameDuck, Jeremy Alessi, ENAY, etc.

Most of those people are still around now. Just not chatting about off-topic stuff.

i started a pole but it got deleted. i guess this means that the mods hate me. >:P

Yeh, but let's not get silly over it. Or I will speak with your mother.
