I'm looking for video promo advice...

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/I'm looking for video promo advice...

I've just finished a 3D animated music video and now I need contacts/websites to send it to - get it 'out there' so to speak.

I'm also not completely adverse to the idea of using a promo company to do the dirty work, provided they can get it to places I cannot, so if anybody knows a good one then let me know.

Ideally I'm aiming at eventually getting it on TV - may seem like a lofty goal, but I got a Blitz game on national TV, and my music has been on Radio1 (UK) a bunch of times so I know it can be done. All help as always is greatly appreciated :)

First place you should go to is:

http://www.cgsociety.org/

if it's any good, post it on the forums, there is a special section for 3d animations. You can see that there are at least 5 high quality vids there every day and a lot of industry people are watching it. On the other part of it you'll find all the big AAA companies putting up adds for artists, but all sorts of people visit that site. You could look at offers or put up your CV on the designated section, you never know.

That's a good start, but I should probably have emphasised that the video is a showcase for the music (like any 'commercial' music video). So although recognition in the CG industry would be a nice bonus its not my main goal. I want to spread it around to the public and hopefully get some A&R types to see it along the way - I've been doing the music biz 'thing' for years so I know how to get stuff listened to, but this is my first real adventure into the world of mainstream video. Googling for hours can only throw up so many 'leads'. Once I get a good quality version uploaded somewhere I'll post a link so you guys can have a butchers.

It's the old "who you know not what you know" problem. I've got loads of music contacts because my family is full of musicians, but i'll never use them myself because i'm not into music (because my family is already too full of musicians for my liking).

If it's really good I could maybe dig out an address for you. Maybe. No promises. It would depend a lot on music genre really. ie: if it's dance/techno/hip hop or likely to be played at a rave then don't mail me as I know no-one, I said musicians - not drug addicts... :)

What's going on? I put a reply to this a couple of days ago with a couple of links and some advice, and now it's gone. There was nothing contentious in there whatsoever.

Alot of stuff was lost as a result of the move to a new server, mrtricks.

Damn and blast.
