OK, so the first South West (U.K.) Blitz Indian night was a success. Big thanks to all those who came along. Hopefully more will come to the next one, no slackers! Btw if anyone else in the U.K. is considering putting on a Blitz Night, I'd be interesting in coming along, get to it! I'll probably do another one in the summer, maybe we can all go to the beach and eat burgers and chips from the little food stalls?

Indiepath and SoggyP sayed at the Bull Hotel, of which Indiepath said "It's like faulty towers but without the comedy", oh well. At least it was in town and thus within staggering distance of the pubs. Plus of course it was cheap :-)

Indiepath popped round my house earlier in the day and met my crazy kids and fluffy cat. He also got to see a preview of my next game, ooh how exciting, and said "My god, this is totally amazing, I worship you as the world's best developer" or something like that, I can't remember the exact words. Actually most of the time he had these little igLoader stars/dollars twinkling in his eyes.

Anyway we met up at a local bar and proceed to consume booze. Luckily we all recognised each other OK. Then we were fashionably late for the Indian meal, who I'm sure forgot we had booked but found us a table anyway. In good tradition, we ordered too much food, but it was good food for sure. We managed to avoid talking "shop" for some of the time. Actually, I've just realised that I didn't buy Indiepath a drink all night, hoho, but then he didn't buy me one either, so touché!

Then, slightly worse for wear, we proceeded up the road to a local bar which was a tad crowded and proceeded to drink. I found out that I drink the same drink is SoggyP, i.e. double vokda and coke, class. Indiepath is a beer monster like he said. We retired upstairs to a comfy lounge which is where a few of the photos are taken and then hit the road around 12:30. On the way to the hotel, SoggyP avoided getting assaulted by a drunk "young" farmer-type by giving him a light. The hotel was of course locked, but luckily the alchoholic landlord was still quaffing away and let them in. Anyway that's pretty much the last I saw of them, I hope they are still alive.

Anyway, on with the photos.

Here's us all towards the end:

Here's me:

and Indiepath contemplating his igLoader world domination plans.

Here's Red October. Now here's a funny thing, I thought he was a 50 year old American with a shady history so imagine my surprise when he turned up and was a women! Mind you she still talked about cube mapping, water effects and submarines all night!

Also, another big surprise was Halo, also a women. He, no she, was raving on about OOP all night long and how it's basically a life philosophy now... (note the beautiful painting of grapes in the background. Please try to ignore the leering monstrocity to the left)

Now for a meddley. SoggyP was demonstrating how he can pick his nose from the front AND from the INSIDE omg!

And for fairness I've included this one of him looking normal:

finally, I invited my friend, "scottish" Andrew, who was once my employee. Now the tables haved turned and he is my boss, because I do contract work for him. I used to be T-total before I met Andrew, but his wiley Scottish ways got me into booze, he's got a lot to answer for! Mind you having a fully stocked wine rack is pretty essential for parents. I'm surprise they don't have a wine section in Mothercare actually.

OK so that's it. Finally a brief appeal just in case ... Dear mods, this thread is the result of a Blitz social evening. Whilst not directly related to programming or games, I hope you'll feel that this thread is of course valid due to it being about the momentus meeting of some community members. Hopefully the first of many!

Ah yes just one more for Noel. when I got back I discovered my fluffy cat can shoot fireballs from it's eyes. This is NOT a photoshop job!

Halo just said she's gonna kill you!

Nice one Jake, I'll get you a double vodka and fat coke next time!

I want that stripey jumper

Nice pictures.

I'm sure the mods wouldn't delete this, as it demonstrates that purchasing Blitz products lets them into these amusing and um... revealing... social things.

Hello.

It was a very good night and it's just a shame more people didn't make it - maybe next time, eh?

The jumper was the last gift from my mother in law before I did a runner from my wife. So you can't have it :o) Incidentally, I also have two red-striped jumpers from the same source though they're starting to unravel :o(

It was nice waking up to two 17 year olds trying to get into my room. However, they were the cleaners and only interested in stripping the clothes from the bed, not me.

Anyway, Tim and Jake, good to meet you both and Red and Halo and Andrew. Looking forward to the next one.

Goodbye.

well maybe if you'd shown them, how long your tongue is ... ;-)

Anyway it was a pleasure to meet you and to discuss bone marrow donorship. I'm glad you made it back safely too.

LOL @ Red and Halo!!!

Hey, good you guys had a good time, I really would have loved to have come.

I found out that I drink the same drink is SoggyP, i.e. double vokda and coke, class.

Almost three!

Next time dude! In the summer yeah?

And for fairness I've included this one of him looking normal:

Where? :P

Indeed, Got a week booked in that hotel :D

By the way.

You had an entire Indian Night-

Why do i see not a single Indian? :P

A week booked wow. It's possible you could save money by staying in a B&B instead but they might not be in town. It's not posh or anything the hotel, it's just cheap and well situated that's all.

Indeed, Got a week booked in that hotel :D

Get a B&B!

I'm sure I once accused Red of sexist comments to women.
Nah - it couldn't have been.
I couldn't have be that stupid. Could I?

Hang on, I thought Halo's real name was Josh?

Hang on, I thought Halo's real name was Josh?

Yeah, and I thought Red's real name was Mike? I'm confused.

I think it was a joke po

Nice radioactive cat :)

yeah the cat is stage one of my experiment. The next one will be able to fly as well.

ROTFLMAO... verrrry good... verrrrrrrrrry funnnneeeeeee...

sorry it took me so long to get to this thread

ok... i admit it... i'm a woman...

--Mike

you took your time "mike" ;-)

lol lol lol

So Red October is your wife Grey? and halo is Tim's wife then? lol

Yeah she's great in bed, "up periscope" and all that. No jokes about torpedoes, please...

GA... it just took me a while to come 'outta the closet', so to speak... i mean, with all these aggressive male personalities running around the place... what's a girl to do...

(ahhhh hahahaaaaaaaaaa!!!)

--Mike

Ok guys stop it!!! L@L too funny though.. **Blows whistle very hard**

Mike didn't show, halo didn't. Tim's wife is gonna kill you ;) and your wife is too ;p

The joke's up GA. Mike quit encouraging ;p

:)

--Mike

aw.... well actually it wasn't my idea. It was Halo's I think.

Thanks for being a good sport Red. It coulda gone pearshaped, but all is well.

haha knew it ;) It was Tim's wife? err halo? err? lol, I wasnt sure honestly. :P I just felt sorry for peeps that would fall for it (as I almost did anyways)

Yes Halo is really Penny :D And yes it was her idea :P

Yeah I was pretty dead-pan, also SoggyP backed it up, then I neither denied or verified anyones posts until Matt blew it...

Some people probably still think it's true lol!

"Red" is really Helen, my partner and mother to my two boys. I don't think she is really interested in subs or 3D graphics, sorry.

Sorry guys! I blew the whistle I couldnt help it... ;) Very funny though, I had a good laugh this morning!

Is it just me who thinks "Dave Sim" (creator of Cerebus) when looking at that photo of IndiePath ?

{No offense intended !}

You'll soon know if anyone hasn't realised the "in joke", because if your experience of this place is anything like mine - you'll get at least 6 geeks hitting on you within a day.

is the blue hair-style the result of to much blitz- coding ??
and the mysteriously face expression also ??

i like the style from Red October. ;)
