OK, so the first South West (U.K.) Blitz Indian night was a success. Big thanks to all those who came along. Hopefully more will come to the next one, no slackers! Btw if anyone else in the U.K. is considering putting on a Blitz Night, I'd be interesting in coming along, get to it! I'll probably do another one in the summer, maybe we can all go to the beach and eat burgers and chips from the little food stalls?
Indiepath and SoggyP sayed at the Bull Hotel, of which Indiepath said "It's like faulty towers but without the comedy", oh well. At least it was in town and thus within staggering distance of the pubs. Plus of course it was cheap :-)
Indiepath popped round my house earlier in the day and met my crazy kids and fluffy cat. He also got to see a preview of my next game, ooh how exciting, and said "My god, this is totally amazing, I worship you as the world's best developer" or something like that, I can't remember the exact words. Actually most of the time he had these little igLoader stars/dollars twinkling in his eyes.
Anyway we met up at a local bar and proceed to consume booze. Luckily we all recognised each other OK. Then we were fashionably late for the Indian meal, who I'm sure forgot we had booked but found us a table anyway. In good tradition, we ordered too much food, but it was good food for sure. We managed to avoid talking "shop" for some of the time. Actually, I've just realised that I didn't buy Indiepath a drink all night, hoho, but then he didn't buy me one either, so touché!
Then, slightly worse for wear, we proceeded up the road to a local bar which was a tad crowded and proceeded to drink. I found out that I drink the same drink is SoggyP, i.e. double vokda and coke, class. Indiepath is a beer monster like he said. We retired upstairs to a comfy lounge which is where a few of the photos are taken and then hit the road around 12:30. On the way to the hotel, SoggyP avoided getting assaulted by a drunk "young" farmer-type by giving him a light. The hotel was of course locked, but luckily the alchoholic landlord was still quaffing away and let them in. Anyway that's pretty much the last I saw of them, I hope they are still alive.
Anyway, on with the photos.
Here's us all towards the end:

Here's me:

and Indiepath contemplating his igLoader world domination plans.

Here's Red October. Now here's a funny thing, I thought he was a 50 year old American with a shady history so imagine my surprise when he turned up and was a women! Mind you she still talked about cube mapping, water effects and submarines all night!

Also, another big surprise was Halo, also a women. He, no she, was raving on about OOP all night long and how it's basically a life philosophy now... (note the beautiful painting of grapes in the background. Please try to ignore the leering monstrocity to the left)

Now for a meddley. SoggyP was demonstrating how he can pick his nose from the front AND from the INSIDE omg!

And for fairness I've included this one of him looking normal:

finally, I invited my friend, "scottish" Andrew, who was once my employee. Now the tables haved turned and he is my boss, because I do contract work for him. I used to be T-total before I met Andrew, but his wiley Scottish ways got me into booze, he's got a lot to answer for! Mind you having a fully stocked wine rack is pretty essential for parents. I'm surprise they don't have a wine section in Mothercare actually.

OK so that's it. Finally a brief appeal just in case ... Dear mods, this thread is the result of a Blitz social evening. Whilst not directly related to programming or games, I hope you'll feel that this thread is of course valid due to it being about the momentus meeting of some community members. Hopefully the first of many!
Ah yes just one more for Noel. when I got back I discovered my fluffy cat can shoot fireballs from it's eyes. This is NOT a photoshop job!
