What a .php file is ?
I downloaded a "Window Media Player" demo but the extension of the downloaded file was .php instead of .wmp
I got the message unknown file format
What shall I do to open this file ?

php is a script language to create web pages. All the link with the extension .php are script that will be executed when the user click on the link.
It's a language (free) used by millions of server (like BlitzBasic.com).
It permits to 'change' the content of a page dynamically.

Probably you have a program like Go!Zilla or DownLoad Manager that intercept the file .php BEFORE it can be processed by the server to send you the desidered file.

Try renaming it and see what happens.
It should work... assuming that it's a somewhat sizeable file.
