human models

If I created a huiman charatcer, say default grunt or somesuch, would people be interested in that?
If so what polycount, texture size etc. i may be able to get the anims done as well.
Imagine a default male and female with a full set of anims. I think that woud be a good base for people to work on
In terms of texture it's easy to resize an image, so i'd create the texture at 1024x1024 and let others scale to suite.
Regarding polycount, there'll be a wide array of opinions - some games want them at 400 polys (RTS, distance LOD etc.) some games want them at 2,500 polys, and some people will happily blow 10,000 on the main character which others will find shocking...
Nobody will agree on poly count, so work to whatever count pleases you :).
Erm, "Ruz" - I was actually thinking yesterday (when you reappeared) that you ought to be working for us.
Have you got 'old stuff' too that you can sell?
"Tom" ("Scouse") did some free RPG models - stuff along those lines that you can sell are fine with me - or, stuff like in 'DarkMatter1'.
The idea of making a 'stock' model is good - ie not one that has the mesh altered to take into account items or bulky clothing - just a mesh that can be easily re-skinned just by slapping a new texture on it - the usual walk/run/attack/die, etc animations. Preferably in .b3d format.
There has been a recent call for RPG type stuff - we've had 3 or 4 Fantasy/RPG buildings packs released recently. Also, there are a few people working on RPG-type games in B3D and BMax.
I haven't actually got any decent old stuff worth selling. i did some cowboy stuff a while ago, but its hardly generic.
I see what you mean about the extra bulk , clothing etc.
Yeah I hopefully have some free time soon. I will see what i can do.
suppose I could do a 10,000 poly character, then have various LOD verison of it ie 10,000, 5,000, 2,000 and 500 polys.
Yeh, so I would say don't 'model' the clothing into the mesh, but have it so you can just reskin it into anything you want - that has a human shape. Would make a boring mesh, but a highly-reskinnable one.
Of course, you could design the meshes the opposite way and add features to the mesh that can be removed by the end user. So, if you had put a backpack on it, a hat on its head, or something in its hand, etc; just make sure I can go into 'Deep Exploration' and simply hit a tick box and take that sucker off.
