old fps demo

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/old fps demo

anyone know where I can download 'blood' demo.
I played it years ago and fancied taking a second look.

Also quake 1 will not run on xp, is there a fix for this?

www.abandonia.com

They have 'abandonware' games from years gone by (including Blood). There's alot of arguments about whether or not abandonware is illegal, alot of the time, someone's just decided to crack the copyright because the game is so old.

Be warned.

thanks Muzzer

That game was OK you know. I also played Blood2 all the way through, it was better than Blood1.

Maybe Quake1 will run in DosBox, or get GLQuake and try that?

You can try WinQuake too

also played Blood2 all the way through, it was better than Blood1.

I think the original is better than the sequel.
If you look around the net you can find mp3 cd tracks and smk cut-scenes for the games.
As well as Blood compilation (4 episodes + mission pack) is legally available. Just a little of googling helps.

There's only one way to play Quake.

Thanks for the link, Sledge. I can't believe how good it looks now! If you get glide2x.dll error messages, delete OpenGL32.dll. Also 'crosshair 1' in the console lets you aim a little better.

abandonware is illegal. the reason why some abandonware sites like abandonia and the-underdogs appeared is to encourage the developer to release their game again. in other words, it's illegal, but you shouldn't give a @#!* if you don't like dealing with "ebay abandonware crap". you know, buying a picture, buying a broken floppy, buying the game only to find out that the guy selling the game downloaded the game off an abandonware website. believe me, it happens a lot.

getting back on topic, imo, i'd have to say that blood 2 was better than blood 1.

My favorite line from "Blood" (1, I think):
"When you get to hell tell 'em I sent you. You'll get a group discount."

Classic!

Slege, neat link. May just have to isntall that!

abandonware is illegal

I agree 100%, but Blood was released GPL (Second one even with source) by Monolith.

www.nexuiz.com uses a sauced up version of the Quake 1 engine. pretty impressive stuff.

tenebrae looks ok if you like your levels covered in 3,646 layers of shellac.
