lol. Larsonesque

Owned.

That gave me a good laugh...love how Orange-haired Mac is cross-eyed.

they should make animated with this style movie out of this. how did you find this swift, that guys homepage doesn't include this pic in portfolio.

Max:
Well I don't know where you got to, but on his site clicking the white guy in the middle leads to all the comics.
I think maybe the site that copy is hosted on is an unofficial mirror.

This is the real site:

The ones at the bottom are the oldest ones. The newer ones are better, so you might want to read them in reverse order.

I like the comic a lot, but it is rather twisted humor, so it may or may not be everyone's cup of tea. :-)

Very few of the strips are video game related, so if that is what you're hoping for you'll be disspointed. And the one above is the only one in a pixel art style.

This is awesome!

I loved playing Punch-Out! back in the day with my PowerGlove....

I even punched the TV off of its stand once! Got a little too involved...

Now that was a game that gave you a work out because you actually had to swing... I would sweat my butt off playing that game.

Has anyone else here used the PowerGlove with Punch-Out!?

I didn't realise it was an actual game, sounds familiar though.

Grey:
You're showing your age! Or lack thereof. :-)

Mike Tyson's Punch Out was a game that came out on the original NES in the late 80's. After Mike Tyson stopped being a role model for young children everywhere, they changed the name to just Punch Out, and I think they changed the final boss as well, who was Mike Tyson in the original.

The game was a lot of fun. You had a tiny little guy named Little Mac, and you had to box against all these crazy guys, like King Hippo, who was weak against punches to the stomach, and Glass Joe who was the first guy and would go down with one uppercut to his glass jaw.

In between each series of fights, you'd see little mac in his pink jumpsuit jogging down the road with his trainer, the same guy you see there, on his bike following behind. The guy did a great job recreating the look.

Also before each bout you'd see the two fighters in each corner of the screen sitting in their corner and they would say things to one another and the trainer was there giving advice.

Here's what the game actually looked like:

And here's what the game would look like on today's systems:

I played that boxing game heaps on SNES. But it was in some weird language, maybe it was French.

Those hair shaders look great in the second shot btw, but you can really see the low poly nature of the models in some areas.

swift: lol, the match is SEVERELY unbalanced! Anyway I'm the same age as you I think. Now you've explained it, I know the game, but I never played it, thass all.

Swifty: Flippin' 'eck! That big boxing guy is a real, living neanderthal! Check out his protruding brow and 45% forehead... and all that hair. Who the hell set that fight up!?!?! The small guy must've got battered into next week. :/

Naw, he figured out that when the big guy blinks with his left eye, that means he's about to throw a right hook, and when he blinks with his right, that means he's he's about to throw a left one, and that when he blinks both, he is about to throw a flurry of punches. With that knowledge, he was easily able to kick the big guy's ass and win the world champion title.

He won, huh? I guess it wasn't by a KO - he's not tall enough to reach the other guy's head! :P

Soda Popinski was the coolest. You could tell by the look on his face it wasn't soda he was drinking.

.

lol @ Eikon re: "look on his face" Such expressive pixel art.

Do you reckon I can sneak this Pres. Bush facial hair link for mature audiences only in here: http://www.pointlesswasteoftime.com/smf/index.php?topic=18519.0 I'm sure swifty will like it, it's hil*hair*ious :-D be sure to check out pages 2 and 3.

Are you talking about the Photo or for the game?
If it is about the phote can you post a link? This is going to be a great story to tell to friends.

of course he's talking about the game (all that eye blinking stuff), you're just kidding right?

Hehehe. I think he's serious.

What I posted there is how you defeat Tyson in the game, but I was making a joke that it applied to that real fight. :-)

Haramanai, in the original game, those were the clues you had to watch out for, in order to win.

Mike Tyson was a beast! He liked to drop his shoulder before punching, but you really had to be quick to see it coming.

By the way... Have you played the jave mobile vertion?
It was great game. I was playing it evry day when I was soldier.

I still find Tyson hard as hell, you need ninja reflexes to react to his tells on time....also in the Punch-Out! with the Tyson reference removed, you fight the lame "Mr.Dream", who just looks completely retarded imo in comparison to the monster that Tyson is.

Lenn, that was probably Super Punch Out!, which I also played to death, although mine was in English.

Man I'd love to see a Punch-Out Revolution! whenever that system comes out, get two controllers, one for each hand......actually that would probably work loads better for a game like the Fight Night Round series.

Of course, Tyson in real life is/was a beast. He totally rocked when he was *just* a fighher and not an a-hole.

Here's another pic of an unfair fight:

To the mods: I vote that threads like these be allowed, once again. C'mon, grow a sense of humour! :P
