Will Blitz3d run under Vista?

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Will Blitz3d run under Vista?

Well?

Kind of rude sounding aren't you?

hopefully not.. I dont want anyoe using an ancient language and this would fix that. C'mon it's just not practical to use blitz3d anymore. Just put it away nice and slow :)

Just kidding! - I have no idea..

hehe - I've heard it works fine.

according to this thread, yes it will/should

I heard there was a beta of 'Vista' kicking about - someone should install it and check it out.

I love B3D and will continue my rather excellent-looking* RPG in it. It's starting threaten that pipsqueak 'Oblivion'.

*considering none of the graphics/media are my own.

heh oblivion had its lighting and shadows changed recently, and in many ways looks a lot worse than it did. The only good side is that it's not as dark as it was. One of my biggest gripes with most new gen games that use fancy shadows.

They decided that the cool lighting they had before was too much of a resource hog and changed it for something more pedestrian.

Hey.

Theres a rather loud echo isnt there?

yes, Blitz3D does work in Vista.

Yes, but does it work in Vista?

..I try it yesterday..its working fine..

That's great news! But I would like to know if it works in Vista.

64 bit. =]

Will Blitz3d run under Vista?

The only issue you may run into is the DEP issue that still exists with B3D & B+, even in the latest versions. The main culprit seems to be with AMD 64bit processors. If Vista continues XP SP2's method of DEP protection, this could indeed be a problem.

Actually, Mark just posted a fix for B3D that fixes the DEP issue with AMD64s. Hopefully, B+ will see this issue fixed shortly, too :c)

I never had a problem with my 64bit AMD.

I did have a problem (or at least a customer did)!

I have Virtual PC and Vista beta so I'll install, test and report back...
