Hey. I recently bought Diablo 2 (and expansion for the 3rd time) and I am really getting sick of the CD having to load in the middle of the game! It makes the game hang for like 4 seconds and before you know it, I'm dead! Someone said something in the game about how he just made a disc-image so it would run without the CD. Anyone know how to do this? Is it just like copy/paste everything on the CD?

No it's not. There's a lot of software for doing this, but Daemon Tools is free and popular so I chose that to link to :
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/announcements.php Also, Alcohol 120% is the software to turn that CD into a CD image file, for use with Daemon Tools.
I used Alcohol 52% (same as 120% except without cd burning) to make the image and that daemon thing to make it work. Thanks all. Note that if anyone else wants to do this, be sure to make the image a .mds for copy-protected games.
With regards to Daemon Tools, I recommend using the older version if you dont want to bother with the toolbar/ad-bot built-in to the 4.x series which can be found on their site over
here.
All I know 4.x does is work better with regards to StarForce, and other more modern means of copy-protection....I mainly just use mine for Worms Armagedonn since that game wants to load everything from the god dang disc.
Well, it asks you whether you want to install google toolbar or not, so I just unchecked it.
Hey thanks po, all this time I was under the impression Alcohol 52% was just a daemon-tools like program.

Or, you can just untick the adware box during the installation, like a smart person.

I'm peeved off how games can tell if your running them on a virtual drive, then you get a 'DONK' message, asking you to put the CD in the drive!
Just look at Quill3D, there's more DRM stuff in there then 3DS... I mean, it's an 3D art package, why the hell have the CD in the draw every single time!
I understand that indie programmers who sell their stuff don't want to be taken for a ride (We should all know that), but putting a CD in, then back out, in, out, in, out shake it all about, just ends up making you sick, and you stop using it!
The last game that wouldnt let me run it from a VD (Virtual Drive... Not, erm.. that) was Championship Manager 5, and I got that sick, I've never played it after a few gos! And I'm not buying number 6 because of that!
