Marble Blast Ultra

Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Marble Blast Ultra

This game on Xbox Live Arcade is very fun! It's very cool to hear the gamers playing it over live and having an amazing time. It also looks like there are about 2,200 registered players and it's just the first day! I almost forgot what it was like to be a pure gamer and get as excited as these people were online. It seems a little strange to me now actually ... but I remember being a kid and even into my teen years and being really excited about playing games. Seems to have faded a bit ... I don't really talk about games like these people any more although perhaps on the forums I sound excited.

hehe, I'm typicaly a solitary gamer that plays single player RPGS and strategy games. But I really enjoy racing games where you can chat live to the nearest drivers in the races.

Man, you need to quit mentioning good word about XBX Live! Arcade titles Jeremy, yer getting me even more tempted to purchase the 360 just to play them myself. ><

Cheap arcade-games that you play online with a leader-board using a nice controller....hard to ask for much more, and heck, they're soon to have an Online Street Fighter2....agh, so tempting.

Yep, the Street Fighter 2 this is going to be rad ... they have the old Arcade quarter on the machine setup. I guess you'll even be able to watch the matches as you wait your turn ;)
The games too are so darn cheap but so good. It's the best thing to happen to gaming in a long time I think.

Which means what exactly, you dont get to "keep" the product when you pay for it, and instead have to spend some of your credits each time you want to play a round, like a real arcade machine?
(that would actually be an interesting use of XBX Live! Arcade long as such a system doesn't get out of hand with regards to credit cost per play)

No no ... it just means you have to wait in line to beat "The Man" ... whoever is winning ... just like in the old Arcades. When I was a kid and we played you had to put your quarter up on the machine to signal that you were waiting to face the champ ... this challenge the leader concept is retained in the new version!

That is cool.

Personally i'm waiting for the ability to stick-one-up at the nearest drivers! Would be awesome to see someone giving you the finger out a car window :P

Thats just me being strange though.

Heh ... they did stuff sort of like that in Power Drift ... though I don't think the actual finger ever came up ;)

Would be easy to add a visual taunt :), something to think about if a XBL racing game worked out, and cool too since often on track days people do signal faster drivers to let them pass and things.

It's cool that they sold over 20,000 copies of marble blast ultra in the first 4 days. The original game wasn't that great, but maybe with MP and world rankings etc, it might be a lot better.

For once we agree. XBox Live! and Live! Arcade in particular are the XBox 360s only real strong points as far as I can tell, and something I can only imagine Sony and Nintendo must be really kicking themselves over (although I do hear that Nintendo has a similar service set up for the Revolution, it's my understanding you only get to play older Nintendo games on it).

Hehe, yes we agree! Hell must have just frozen over! LOL, nah ... I know we agreed on a few things before! We just both like to debate!

As for MBU ... it's definitely a good game. It's not the best game ever ... but as far as 360 games go it's up there. The MP is really fun ... but's it's still a very arcadey game ... pick up and play. It gets as deep as you want it to I suppose. It's the type of game where a lot of the fun emerges from the excellent controls.
