Compat Tests : OpenGL Model Viewer
Miscellaneous Forums/General Discussion/Compat Tests : OpenGL Model Viewer
Can you please try my 3d Model viewer on your machine and let me know if it works for you. It's OpenGL based and runs within igLoader.
The viewer uses the igLoader integrated network commands to pull the model files from the web, these are then unpacked, decrypted (in memory) and then rendered. The models are passed using the commandline parameter in igLoader : <PARAM name='commandline' value='http://igloader.com/examples/fighter.smf'/>, as such any model that resides on the server can be showcased just by changing the file passed to the application.
Use the mouse, press button 1 to Zoom and button 2 to Rotate.
This is a test bed for a commercial project, please report all nasties to me.
Here is the URL :
http://igloader.com/examples/igshowcase.php (You may be required to upgrade your version of igLoader)

**Thanks to Psionic for the loan of the model.
it worked here, tho i did get noise when it started up. VGood
@Diablo, Noise? as in audio?
as in visual nosie wired characters and blocks of colour, lasted about 1/2 sec. i think its carray over from other opengl programs cause i just run an app - then tried this and it looks as tho it carried what ever was on the backbuffer(or front buffer) from the other program.
Edit: Try running your link twice, once after each other, and you might recreated it.
YEs sounds like backbuffer accumulation.
I just get a "black" window
@Alien force, do you have other issues with OpenGL apps?
I got a license error (redirected to the error page) then click back and got again, the back and got a Crash:
AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 6.0.2900.2180 ModName: unknown
ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 03d8395b
IE bombed right out. Went back in and same again.
Presume IG loader is out of date?
Just tried again, got license error page and just noticed "there is a new version" dialog under the main window, clicked it and got MAV again.
Guess your machine don't like it then Grey :)
Well I've probably go to install the latest version. Got a link?
Any version of 1.2.0.0 onwards should autoupdate.
get it from
http://igloader.com/download/igLoader_setup.exe
I downloaded 1.2.0.4 exited IE. Ran it,went back in (no reboot yet) and I still get a MAV BUT it's different:
AppName: igshowcase.ipf AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: atioglxx.dll
ModVer: 6.14.10.5147 Offset: 00088b2c
Guess it's not compat my my ATI then? My drivers are probably out of date mind you.

Indiepath: Have no problem with running other openGL software. IE reports a error when loading the page. "One object expected" code 0 line 1.
I am running Swedish XP pro, Avast antivirus and are behind a firewall :)
I have tried without Avast protection same problem.
I first updated igLoader, quit and reopened the link. While it was loading, the progress bar was drawn in the right place, but the actual loading pic 'the green cloverleaf it's worth it pic' wasn't stretched to match the same position, it sat unstretched in the top left hand corner. When finished loading, it presents a CREAM coloured box and gives me the same Error on page as Alienforce.
English XP pro, same antivirus, Windows firewall. No problems with any OpenGL software, of course.
Best I release a debug version, doh.
Now contains debug information, please re-test if you had issues.
Still got loads of probs. It always gives me that license error page the first time I view the link and then MAVs afterwards. Can you post instructions for completely cleaning out IGLoader and any cached downloaded files then I'll retry if you want.
1) Clear the cache in IE or Firefox, as you would normally.
2) Control Panel > Add Remove Programs > igLoader 1.2.0.0
Tim.
Done that, same error:
AppName: igshowcase.ipf AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: atioglxx.dll
ModVer: 6.14.10.5147 Offset: 00088b2c
I'll update my ATI drivers.
Test it with an old intel built-in graphics CPU.
just upgraded drivers to latest set, my old set was only 6 months old. Same error:
AppName: igshowcase.ipf AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: atioglxx.dll
ModVer: 6.14.10.5529 Offset: 000a7b6c
My card is a Radeon 9800XT 256MB RAM, XP SP2, 3.2GHz P4 HT, 1GB RAM etc.
@halo, are you saying you did or that I should?
@Grey, your ATI drivers don't like openGL do they. This is very basic OpenGL, no shaders, no nothing apart from some ambient light, a few triangles and a texture!
Ran first time, got licence error, Opera crashed. Restarted it, downloaded new igloader, installed, ran it and it worked fine.
Can you send me the app, non-igloader i.e. .exe file and if that runs then I know my card is OK. My card is pretty mainstream in fact was top of the range.
No can do Grey, the app is designed to work with igLoader, if you try and run standalone it won't do anything.
You should. I think it is the 810 chipset. Very common "card", with a lot of GL incompatibility.
Mine gave me an error about my license file? Then it shut down. Also got a Mozilla plugin error.
Best remake it with DirectX support then.
That makes sense, since it's a Windows only thing atm anyway ;]
Hmm, interesting. This debug version (I uninstalled the other version and cleared IE's caches, then it forced me to reset comp after reinstalling anyway)... still have the cream box, but no Error on page anymore. Oh and the progress bar displayed the correct sized igLoader logo.
Good thing I didn't click Post yet. Closing the IE window caused iglShowcase.ipf (or whatever) to bring up the error reporting dialog box and then another one for IE itself =]

Yeah the app is not releasing it's Handle or the OpenGL surfaces correctly. I'm working on that, mind you if I move to DirectX then I won't need to worry about that :)
I have it working in an 810 gfx card
This is an ATI Radeon card we are talking about - of course it can handle OpenGL well. Especially the 9800, since it was one of the cards against which Doom 3 was often benchmarked.
AppName: igshowcase.ipf AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: atioglxx.dll
ModVer: 6.14.10.5529 Offset: 000a7b6c
This does suggest that it's the ATI driver that is failing.
I ran Quake2 the other day in openGL mode and it was fine.
It has been decided to go DirectX for compatibility reasons. We are in the process of adapting code from the "Dawn Bringer" Engine for this purpose.
By integrating Dawn Bringer code we will be able to offer :-
- Normal lighting
- Hemisphere lighting
- Real-time shadows
- Environment mapping
- Specular mapping
- Plain old dot3
- Vertex shaders
- .3ds model support
*secure client model, .3ds and textures are decrypted into memory and loaded from there.
What's it for anyway?
it works perfectly here! awsome work
It's to enable showcasing of 3d models. Typically when you want to showcase your models you post images, these are renders taken at different angles. Our showcase tool enables modelers to showcase their models within a secure 3D environment.
{edit}Removed.
so who's it for? Artists? Sounds cool.
I can tell you Jake since you are under NDA, everyone else will have to keep guessing..
His name is Jake? Aha! Secrets revealed! You're in trouble for a bit of NDA yourself methinks, Tim!
Without trying to sound rude, which I will anyway, I'd dare say your OpenGL code just sucks =] I have a GeForce 6600, so if my crash was OpenGL related, it wasn't ATI's fault ;]
Hey Toby, I borrowed the base code from the Nehe tutorials - it must be their code that sucks :)
Problem with license file, shut down. Then I was given a bazillion illegal operation messages from Firefox.
Similar problem through IE. All error messages are printed below:
---------------------------
!!Warning!!
---------------------------
Problem with license file. This software will now shut down.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
The following pops up directly on top of the other one before I have a chance to hit OK:
---------------------------
ERROR
---------------------------
Error creating process, trying another method!
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
At that point, I get a complete freeze-up. I cannot click OK on the message boxes or do anything else...
Edit: After writing this with IE behind it, I found that it sometimes doesn't freeze the messageboxes. If I hit OK on that last one, which seems possible, I get the following:
---------------------------
ERROR
---------------------------
Failed to Launch! Ensure you have the correct privileges
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
If I then put the first error message back into focus through the task bar, I am taken back a grey box. (Probably the plugin crashed and I am now looking at PluginHostCtrl).
Refreshing the page kills IE without an error message.
Those error messages are from a very early version of igLoader, pre-autoupdate and pre-fixed pluginhostctrl; they do not exist in versions 1.2.0.0 onwards. I am surprised the plugin actually launched since it's looking for a different MIME type to the one you have installed.
The latest version of the plugin is available, as always, at
http://igloader.com/download/igLoader_setup.exe
Oh, haha.
Simple problem. I had updated before running, but it didn't do it right because Firefox was still running. The installer should perhps warn about this along with an automatic update instead of full install thing.
Getting an illegal operation in igShowcase.ipf, followed by:
---------------------------
Model Showcase :: Indiepath Ltd 2005-2006: igShowcase.ipf - Application Error
---------------------------
The instruction at "0x5ed2aed8" referenced memory at "0x00000564". The memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
Same error in both IE and Firefox.
Really? I can update with Firefox still running, what version do you have?
With the autoupdate the plugin sends the client to a seperate webpage which unloads the plugin. The update takes place and then they can resume.
Looks like the application does not work for you either :(, bring on the DirectX version :)
I can run OpenGL fine. In fact, I run VMRL plugins in OpenGL.
There's an autoupdate? I was just clicking on the install link... the plugin had already started and crashed without mentioning an update.
I am running of Firefox 1.5. The problem is also the exact same under IE, so it probably isn't the browser.
My OS is Windows XP SP 2, and vid card is Radeon 9600 Pro.
I notice that you have a status bar message... I'm curious: Does that work in IE as well? I find that PluginHostCtrl doesn't do that stuff.
It must be the implementation of OpenGl in this application which is causing the problems.
With regard to autoupdate, the first thing the plugin does (version 1.2.0.0 onwards) is check it's version. It then notifies the client and does the other stuff.
Status bar updates can be controlled using the NPAPI Print function. I have heavily modified pluginHostctl to be *more* compatible.
