This game is on the cover of the latest Game Developer magazine. According to the article inside, the game was developed by the founder of Bungie using mostly contractors.
i'll have a look tonite if I have time, worth a download then is it?
I like the idea...gotta try this when i get home....
Got it for Christmas. It was a total riot. There's something naturally funny to converting a massive group of zombies, watching them mill about aimlessly for a moment, then whistle and watch them all collectively grunt "huh?" and all rush to you ready to follow the leader.
It's not a perfect game: the green 'old movie' look gets a little old, the military are a little TOO acurate, it's pretty short. But the pros outweigh the cons. Bursting into a retro diner, chomping on a bunch of brains while listening to a perfect cover of the old tune, "lollypop" is nothing short of surreal!
Most enjoyable PC experience I've had since Psychonauts. Although I still have CoD2, FEAR & X3 still in shrinkwrap. Have to leave them closed or I'll never finish my blitz game!
What's X3, I could google but horses mouth and all that? I remember now, a space game like elite, right?
X3, I have found this rolling demo and ITS WORTH A DOWNLOAD:
http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3/demos_de.php?list=56Never saw a that cool looking space game!
Don't know for the gameplay though
Is this out in the UK yet?
I saw it advertised on Sky1 a few days ago, checked the Tesco website which had it on for sale but neither Tesco or PC World had it in store so I had to buy Fable instead.
Finding Stubbs on store shelves is very hard. Similar to Psychonauts. But it's worth the search.
X3:Reunion is very much along the lines of Elite but exponentially larger. The rolling-demo Grisu mentioned is what convinced me to buy it. There's supposed to be a brutal learning curve and virtually no tutorials. But it's supposed to be worth the work. It seems to be the game that Freelancer wanted to be.
I've been wanting this game since E3!
X3 is a great game and very rewarding once you start getting somewhere :). It reminds me a lot of the original elite just with TONS more depth. The realistic marketing system based on supply and demand means you can play real havok with a factory, station or entire systems exonomy by beinga bad boy and restricting supply that keeps these places in business.
You can have a pretty powerful impact on the universal economy once you start building your own stations and factories, and build fleets of ships that can be controlled remotely with upgrades to ship computers.
It's a shame that it require so much time to get anywhere, because I simply don;t have the time I did when I was 12 - 15 years old and played the original Elite on the BBC B in the early 80's
As for stubs, I have a keen dislike for cheap zombie flicks, and that extends to games too, which is unfortunate as this game always sounded quite interesting.
