hey guys... i'm having a lil problem with one of my machines over here... first problem i've had in yeaars...

just wondering, if anyone has experienced something similar to this...

when i start the machine, it starts the power up sequence, then starts loading up windows, then turns itself off...

i have to go thru this about three times before it'll start successfully and load windows... then it'll run all day with no problems...

chkdsk and virus scans prove negative...

could it be the power supply getting ready to go... or maybe a bad memory chip?

any ideas appreciated...

thx

Sounds like bad memory to me, PC downstairs used to do this till I took out the 256mb ram chip from the 2nd slot.
(it had 2 sticks of 256mb)

Yeah, I had this. Problem was indeed with the PSU. 6 days later it died completely. If you have a spare PSU, try one of them.

Yeah, the PSU is the evasive troublemaker :)

I had the same, it was PSU. In the end I bought a quality new one with more Watts (not a cheap one with more power) from www.quietPC.com
